The hype continues for the release of Counter-Strike 2 in the summer of 2023, and many players who have retired from the scene have expressed their willingness to return to Valve’s shooter. Now, one of the most successful players in the North American CS:GO scene, Jacky “Stewie2K” Yip, announced that he is ready to compete again and claims he could return with CS2.

Stewie2k announces his departure from Evil Geniuses

On Sunday, March 26, Stewie2k announced his departure from Evil Geniuses via his Twitter account after two years as the organization’s content creator.

As the announcement shows, Stewie2k declares himself a Free Agent and is now searching for new competitive opportunities. According to the 25-year-old player, the fact that he has stepped away from CS:GO does not mean the doors are closed. On the contrary, Stew assures that he has always loved the game and is ready to come back and compete at the highest level.

Stewie2k has always been one of the main references of CS:GO in the North American scene. So there is no doubt that the announcement of his retirement and his jump to VALORANT surprised more than one. However, his arrival at Evil Geniuses was not as he would have dreamed, as he was only part of the team in its content creation division.

Likewise, Stewie2k is one of the most popular streamers in the VALORANT scene, and that doesn’t mean he hasn’t had some success in the last couple of years. However, the blood of warriors will always be looking for some battle to fight, which is now the case for Stew.

On the other hand, the 25-year-old thanked his wide and solid fan base that supports him daily in his streams and affirmed that his future depends on the opportunities some organization at the highest level wants to offer him. But, leaving the door open to return to Counter-Strike may help him find a new home soon.

Stewie and his success in CS:GO

When we talk about Stewie2k, we imagine that 21-year-old prodigy who took it upon himself to sweep all his rivals while playing for Team Liquid in 2019. For example, we can highlight that Stew won five Tier-S tournaments in 2019, which we included:

  • Intel Extreme Masters XIV – Chicago
  • BLAST Pro Series: Los Angeles 2019
  • ESL Pro League Season 9 – Finals
  • Intel Extreme Masters XIV – Sydney

In addition to these tournaments, he also claimed the $1,000,000 Intel Grand Slam Season 2.

In January 2022, Stewie2k joined Evil Geniuses to replicate his success. But, unfortunately, he did not succeed. So, only six months later, he decides to jump to VALORANT.

However, before playing under the Team Liquid and EG banner, Stewie2k was part of very strong lineups such as Cloud9, SK Gaming, and MIBR. Undoubtedly, from 2016 to 2018, we saw a very young version of Stewie2k, but with a lot of hunger to win.

Now we can only wait for official information regarding the future of Stewie2k, but there is no doubt that we would love to see him back on the Counter-Strike servers, be it CS:GO or CS2.
