As we announced almost a month ago, one of the best Fortnite players who jumped to VALORANT in the 2022 season, Benjy “benjyfishy” Fish, joins Team Heretics to dispute the VCT LCQ 2023.

Benjyfishy was one of the reference players in the competitive scene of Fortnite, but, seeing that the support of large organizations was becoming less and less, he decided to move to VALORANT in the middle of 2022. However, the player had to spend many months practicing and getting up to speed to attract the attention of the teams competing at VALORANT’s highest competitive level, the VCT. As a result, his goals, for now, have been fully achieved, as signing with Team Heretics of the VCT EMEA League is a success for him.

Team Heretics confirm benjyfishy’s signing

In an official statement via a video on Twitter, Team Heretics announced the signing of benjyfishy to their VALORANT starting lineup for the VCT LCQ EMEA. In addition to confirming the report we published in mid-June, this indicates that Team Heretics and benjyfishy had an agreement in place for several weeks. Moreover, the 19-year-old Briton comes from shining in Fortnite and VALORANT’s Challengers scene in EMEA. As a result, he will fill the position left at Team Heretics by the departure of Aleksander “zeek” Zygmunt.

In mid-2022, benjyfishy shocked the esports community by announcing his retirement from the Fortnite competitive scene. At the time, the 18-year-old Briton said that he had lost his love for the game and had no desire to play it competitively. Moreover, he was considered one of the best Fortnite players in the world, as his results playing under the NRG banner for several years were mind-blowing. However, he focused all his potential on Riot Games’ tactical shooter.

About benjyfishy

After making the leap from Fortnite to VALORANT, the 19-year-old Briton was part of many amateur teams to get his gameplay up to speed and increase his level of play. However, his debut on the competitive scene came playing as Enterprise Esports’ Stand-in in the 2023 VCL East: Surge Challengers.

During benjyfishy’s six months with the team, he played most of the time with Killjoy and, no doubt, was one of the team’s mainstays. However, the team finished in second place after losing to Acend, who went on to win the league and qualify for the VCT Ascension EMEA.

Now, with the inclusion of benjyfishy in Team Heretics, the team’s lineup is as follows:

  • Wassim “keloqz” Cista
  • Oscar “mixwell” Colocho
  • Auni “AvovA” Chahade
  • Ričardas “Boo” Lukaševičius
  • Benjyfishy

Benjyfishy’s debut on the VALORANT Tier 1 competitive scene will be next July 19, 2023, at LCQ EMEA 2023, where Team Heretics will face KOI. In this match, the winning team advances to the Upper Bracket semifinals and will face NaVi, while the loser will go straight to the airport to return home.
