The summer offseason of the CS:GO competitive scene continues in full swing, and all the teams are looking at options to put together their lineups in the best way for the transition to CS2. Astralis, one of the most successful organizations in the CS:GO scene, is one of them and, in their quest to get back to being that powerful team, they seem to have decided to send one of their legends, Lukas “gla1ve” Rossander, to the team’s bench.

This move comes on the heels of reports of the possible signing of Victor “Staehr” Staehr to the team’s starting lineup. While this move has not yet been officially announced, all indications are that the Danish rifler will join Astralis in the coming hours.

Astralis to send gla1ve to the bench

According to the latest reports in recent hours, Astralis has reportedly sent one of its legends, gla1ve, to the bench to make room for Staehr’s arrival. This is not the first time that the Danish organization made this decision with one of their legends, as let’s remember that, at the beginning of May, they decided to send Andreas “Xyp9x” Højsleth to their Academy team.

Moreover, this move would come just hours after Astralis announced the departure of Kasper Hvidt (Sports Director) and Nicolai “HUNDEN” Petersen (Analyst).

With gla1ve’s likely departure from the Astralis starting lineup, Benjamin “blameF” Bremer will most likely assume the team’s IGL role. On the other hand, this would not be the first time that blameF has taken the reins of a team, as he did it in 2020 with Complexity Gaming and was the team’s main pillar to winning the BLAST Premier: Spring 2020 European Finals.

However, Complexity Gaming had many problems in their lineup due to constant lineup changes and the Dane decided to look for a new home and got it in Astralis in 2021.

Can blameF take Astralis to the top?

First, we must await confirmation of all the rumored moves swirling around Astralis. However, if everything mentioned above comes true, blameF will have a tough job ahead of them, considering the level of play demonstrated so far in the 2023 season.

The team’s first big test will be in the BLAST Premier Fall Groups 2023, which starts in three weeks. There is no doubt that Astralis had a remarkable change in their level of play since the departure of Xyp9x at the beginning of May, but they did not achieve positive results.

Future of gla1ve

As mentioned, this information is not yet confirmed by the Danish organization. Likewise, gla1ve may be one of the most important assets released in the coming hours. Many teams are trying to close their lineups as soon as possible, so it is likely that in the next few hours, we will have much more news.

Let’s remember that gla1ve has been the IGL of Astralis since the 2016 season. Of course, he was the captain of that brilliant and fearsome team that won four Majors and many more trophies. Any team in the competitive scene would be completely satisfied to have an IGL with the experience, capabilities, and qualities that gla1ve has.
