With a global open beta beginning on April 25, Valorant’s eagerly anticipated Tournament mode, Premier, which will eventually act as the official starting point on the path to pro, is all set to finally make a debut.

Riot’s Design Director Joe Ziegler and Systems Design Lead David Cole first alluded to Valorant’s tournament mode in 2020 when they expressed their desire to provide team-based experiences outside of competitive modes. Since then, several Valorant devs have acknowledged that a tournament mode is in the works but have withheld further information. After years of speculations, it now appears that Valorant’s Tournament mode, known as Premier, is about to be released.

VALORANT Premier release date

As mentioned by Riot, Premier is the team-based competitive system for VALORANT that will enable players to assemble a squad and engage in a series of pre-scheduled matches. With the release of Episode 6 Act 3 on April 25, 2023, the global open beta for Premier will begin and it will run through late May.

Premier’s second beta phase will go live in July, and the full debut is scheduled for August, right after VCT Champions 2023. Riot will gather player feedback throughout the beta test and take it into consideration before deploying Premier globally.

VALORANT Premier schedule for first beta test:

Enrollment period: Apr 25–28
Weekly Matches: Apr 29–May 20
Playoff Tournament: May 21

VALORANT Premier – eligibility and points system

Players must complete Ranked Placement during any Act throughout the course of their account’s lifespan, have a good standing, and have their Valorant account authenticated through SMS in order to join Premier. Based on the average MMR of the team’s top five players, the squad will be placed in one of 20 divisions.

After that, teams will compete over the course of an extended season in weekly games. Each season will last a few weeks, and the clubs’ objective will be to advance to the postseason tournament to compete for the title of Division Champion. Teams will have the opportunity to play up to two matches each week for the chance to gain Premier scores, which will ultimately determine whether or not the team qualifies for the Playoff competition.

A team will receive 100 points for winning a weekly match and 25 points for losing, and to qualify for the playoff event, a team must amass 375 points. With a few minor adjustments in overtime, the rules for the competitive mode will be the same as those for professional games.
