Activision employee data and future of COD leaked

In recent months, news of a massive data breach at Activision, one of the world’s largest video game publishers, has grabbed headlines.

The leak revealed sensitive information about the company and its employees, including details about the future of some of its most popular titles, such as Call of Duty.

The Insider Gaming blog has confirmed the authenticity of an alleged Activision data leak after “vxunderground,” a Twitter user, posted important information about Call of Duty on his account overnight.

Dates for the Call of Duty and Modern Warfare 2 seasons’ downloadable material are out of date. However, the information still provides a valuable historical perspective of the game. Most relevant is the mention of this year’s game, codenamed Jupiter, and the 2024 Call of Duty, codenamed Cerberus.

Activision hacking

Activision Blizzard suffered a security breach last December when hackers gained access to a computer belonging to employees of the firm, which contained confidential documents and emails.

The leaked information included employees’ data, such as names, addresses, and salary information. It also included information about upcoming projects, such as this year’s Modern Warfare 2 premium expansion.

A human resources computer was hacked

According to Insider Gaming, the hacker gained access to a human resources employee’s computer, exploiting a vulnerability in the system. Once inside, the hacker could access and download sensitive information, including employee information and details about upcoming projects.

This explains why there are no images or other examples of content and only information on the delivery schedules of various alphas rather than a database of workers. In theory, no player data has been exposed.

Rumors about Modern Warfare 2 premium expansión

Initially, people thought the premium expansion for Modern Warfare 2 would come out this year. But recent rumors say it will come out as a standalone game in the fall.

The developers of the current Modern Warfare universe have yet to reveal the title of the upcoming game. But it is sure to remain connected to the series. As with many of the recent Call of Duty games, multiple teams are working on the project, with Sledgehammer Games taking the lead.

Activision’s data leak has set off alarm bells in the gaming community by revealing sensitive employee information. In addition, the leak has revealed details about the future Call of Duty.
