After several years, the popular co-op game mode Special Ops returns to Call of Duty! Spec Ops is scheduled to be integrated into several modes later this year and will play an important role in the game.
Special Ops picks up where the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 campaign left off. You can go on different missions together with a friend. It’s a continuation of the adventures you had with Ghost, Price, Soap, and other Task Force 141 members.

Special Ops in Modern Warfare 2
Special Ops in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is set in Al Mazrah. This fictional Middle East region is also the battlefield for several multiplayer maps, such as the new Battle Royale Warzone 2 as well as DMZ. You will also face off against Al Qatala in co-op mode. This fictional terrorist organization is targeting the free West. Together with your teammates, you have to stop the members of this terror organization. Presumably, Special Ops will also be available in cross-play.
Competitive players can earn Special Ops Stars each week. These stars are obtained by completing one of the missions under certain conditions. The faster you complete the missions, the more stars you can earn. There will also be daily challenges that will allow you to earn extra stars. You use the stars to unlock and upgrade kits.

Special Ops missions
Infinity Ward plans to release new content around Special Ops over the next two years. This also applies to multiplayer and battle royale.
Three missions are available from launch on October 28, 2022:
Low profile
In Low Profile, you must infiltrate one of the many villages in Al Mazrah. You start this mission in the middle of the night to gather information and evidence about Al Qatala’s crimes. You try not to be noticed by the public.
Denied Area
Denied Area is a mission that involves more violence and chaos. Several SAM defenses prevent reinforcements in Al Mazrah. You and your teammate have to destroy them with a vehicle. Denied Area takes place in a city.
Defender: Mt. Zaya
Defender: Mt. Zaya is a mission for survival enthusiasts. You must defend the observatory in Al Mazrah as several waves of enemies will come at you and want to plant bombs.
In these missions, you can buy killstreaks, lethal and tactical equipment, ammunition, and armor plates, while trying to try to survive as long as possible. In the first season, the mission High Ground was added to Special Ops, where you have to search for three communication servers and destroy them. For the mission, you need three hard drives with important information and one player to pilot the helicopter while the rest of the team stays on the ground.

Backpacks, Kits and Operators
With the backpack, you can pick up the useful three kits. With the Assault Kit, you get additional Stims and Armor Plates. Lastly, the Medic Kit gives the Revive Pistol a field upgrade that allows you to get your mates back into the game faster. Then there’s the Snapshot Pulse Field Upgrade Recon Kit to help you find enemies.
These kits can be leveled up to level 10 in Special Ops, giving them more items, and you do this simply by completing the missions and challenges. You can also unlock operators in the missions by completing certain challenges.
With this, the developers want to increase the replay value of the Special Ops mode. All of the progression will carry over to other modes as well, like DMZ and Warzone 2, both coming out on November 16.
