Activision announces the World Series of Warzone 2023

A few hours ago, Activision, through the official COD Esports account, announced the World Series of Warzone’s return in 2023. In this edition, the best trios in the world will fight in each region to win a share of the juicy prize pool amounting to $1,200,000.

There is no doubt that WSOW 2023 will have the participation of all those Warzone 2 players we admire daily through their Streams. In addition, the tournaments will be played in different regions such as NA, EU, and some new ones that have been added. On the other hand, it is expected that there will be many guests, such as famous streamers, as well as the participation of professional players from the CDL.

WSOW 2023 Format

First, we should point out that there will be several stages throughout the year in which trios will face each other to score points.

Phase 1

The first phase features an open competition; that is, all those players who have registered with their GameBattles accounts will be able to participate in the WSOW.

These matches will be played from April 27 to 30, where the trios from the US and NA regions compete to enter the TOP 50 that will advance to the qualifiers. During these three days of competition, teams will be scored according to their best ten games. In addition, only those games played by the trios between the established time, from 19:00 CEST to 23:00 CEST, will count.

As we mentioned, the teams that finish in the TOP50 advance to the qualifiers, in which the same format will be used, and we will have the classification of 25 trios. These will join 25 invited trios in the Regionals Finals, where they will fight for $150,000. Finally, the top 25 will advance to the Regionals Finals of Phase 2, while the remaining trios will start Phase 2 from the qualifiers.

Phase 2

Phase 2 will be played in the same format. So far, there are still no dates regarding the start and development of Phase 2. However, it is known that it will be played in the same manner as Phase 1.

Last chance qualifiers

The last 35 trios from the Regionals Finals of Phase 2 will advance directly to the Last-Chance Qualifier, which will be played in July. The top five US and NA trios will seal their ticket to WSOW 2023. On the other hand, the top 15 trios from each region (NA and EU) from the Regionals Finals of Phase 2 will also seal their direct ticket to the WSOW.

Qualifiers from the rest of the regions

The new regions that will play in the WSOW 2023 and their respective quotas are:

  • LATAM N
  • LATAM S
  • Brazil (x2)
  • Mexico (x3)
  • APAC
  • ANZ
  • MEA

There is no information yet for these regions. However, they may follow the same format as the EU and NA.

Global Final

For the first time since the game’s launch and since the creation of WSOW, the Global Final will be held on LAN in front of a live audience. In addition, the prize pool for the Global Final will be $600,000.

On the other hand, it was also announced that the popular #SoloYOLO mode would be played, where all players will compete individually for a single prize of $100,000.
