Every day, multiplayer video game lovers struggle with many bugs that our favorite games have. Well, it is a very common thing in the community of CS:GO, VALORANT, or any FPS game.

However, this usually affects casual players in daily games, and we are used to it. But from there to it happening in a major tournament and being none other than IEM Katowice 2023, it’s unexpected.

There is no doubt that game developers tend to do their respective reviews of everything before realizing such tournaments, but this time they overlooked something.

Bug affects FURIA at IEM Katowice

Let’s start with an example: a teammate has no money, and you want to drop him a weapon in Mirage’s CT Spawn. So you throw it, and magically, the weapon disappears. It sounds like a joke, but it’s not. This bug is currently breaking CS:GO and happened in the FURIA match and BIG at the IEM Katowice 2023 Play-In yesterday.

The match had just changed sides, and FURIA was down on the scoreboard 12-6. During the freeze time of the next round, FURIA’s IGL Andrei “arT” Piovezan drops his AK-47 to André “drop” Abreu to exchange weapons. In this, arT receives the M4A1-S from a drop, but the latter end with nothing, as the weapon was lost under the floor of the map and could not be recovered. As we can see in the previous video.

This forced him to spend his money buying an M4A1-S when the round was already in progress, leaving him with only $50.

Fortunately for the Brazilians, FURIA managed to win that round, indicating that the severe economic damage did not (completely) affect FURIA’s plans. However, this mistake cannot happen again at this level, as it can change the outcome of a match in a moment of termination.

There is no doubt that this destroys the economy of the teams, and without the economy, all plans fall apart. Also, to FURIA, this hurts more because it happened on the TC side, and as we know, TCs always have to spend more money than Trs to get weapons and equipment.

It is not known how long this bug has existed

There is no doubt that it is unknown (nor the developer himself should know) since this bug exists in CT Spawn of Mirage. But now that it happened in a top-level tournament, it is very likely that Valve will fix it as fast as possible, and the best way is to change the ground texture in that area.

It is also unclear if FURIA could have requested a technical pause and a replay of the round after failing and losing one of their weapons.
