The 2023 season of each esports is still underway, and teams continue to make different changes to strengthen their respective lineups.

Now, one of the most important esports organizations in the world, Fnatic, has formed an extremely competitive Apex Legends team in the APAC-N region. However, very few teams can stand up to them because their dominance is almost absolute.

However, despite its regional dominance in recent seasons, Fnatic has decided to change its lineup for the rest of the 2023 season. It is none other than the departure of Keita “MatsuTasu” Matsuura.

Fnatic is one of the greats in Apex Legends

This popular organization created a core of spectacular Japanese players to dominate the APAC-N region scene. This team has not stopped delivering good results throughout the seasons. The most important achievements to date of Fnatic’s Apex division are:

  • Fourth place in the 2022 Championship
  • First place in the 2023 Split One Pro League
  • Eighth place in the Split One London Playoffs

In addition to these good performances, Fnatic has never been able to be beaten by another team from their region, which has generated absolute dominance in the APAC-N in the last two years.

Eighth place in ALGS Split One Playoffs prompts Fnatic to make changes

There is no doubt that eighth place in the ALGS Split One Playoffs has been Fnatic’s worst result since they created the Japanese super team. This, in turn, led to the departure of MatsuTasu from the team’s starting lineup. However, the player is still part of the organization, free to explore different options.

“Report! I will be leaving the FNATIC roster with the SP1 playoffs below! I have not decided to leave FNATIC yet. I’m going to talk about the details of the future in the distribution later!”

MatsuTasu gave details about the decision to leave Fnatic’s starting lineup in a live stream from his Twitch channel. The player mentioned problems such as “stage nerves, not playing at the highest level possible, underperformance, late rotations.”

According to the player, all these problems affected his mental health, which made it impossible for him to help his team in the recent ALGS Split One Playoffs.

Finally, MatsuTasu expressed his unconditional support for his Fnatic teammates and assured them they all agreed 100% with his decision.

About MatsuTasu

Keita “MatsuTasu” Matsuura is not a veteran in the Apex scene; however, he has shown extraordinary potential since his debut in 2021. Under the banner of his first team as a pro, Connect Gaming managed to finish sixth in the 2021 Winter Circuit ALGS Playoffs.

He then joined GameWith alongside Yuga “YukaF” Horie, Takamasa “Meltstera” Kawai, and Coach Kamaneko, where they began to form the solid foundations of what would become Fnatic shortly. Months later, with some success under their belt, GameWith decided to release their lineup of players, and Fnatic completely did not miss the opportunity and signed them immediately.

What will happen with Fnatic for the ALGS Split Two 2023?

Fnatic has yet to announce which player will be MatsuTasu’s replacement in the Apex Legends starting lineup. However, since the start date of ALGS Split Two 2023 has not yet been announced, the team can afford to do an exhaustive search to get the ideal replacement for this great player.
