The 2022 world champion mid laner Kim “Zeka” Geon-woo was named the best LCK player of 2022 at the LCK Awards.

A total of 24 categories, including the best coach, best rookie of the year, all-LCK first team, and player of the split, were honored at the LCK Awards. Lee “VicLa” Dae-kwang, a former KT Rolster mid laner who just joined FlyQuest won the best rookie of the year award while Gen.G’s Ko “Score” Dong-bin was honored with the best coach of the year award.

Zeka won the LCK Player of the Year award

Kim “Zeka” Geon-woo was crowned LCK Player of the Year, beating Ryu “Keria” Min-seok, Choi “Zeus” Woo-je, and Park “Ruler” Jae-hyuk. Prior to 2022, Zeka Geon-woo was the underdog and had fallen off of everyone’s radar. Zeka was on the point of completely missing the Worlds 2022 prior to his great breakout performance, which earned him his first awards in his young career. On his route to winning the League of Legends world title, Zeka overcame many renowned players including the Worlds 2021 Finals MVP Lee “Scout” Ye-chan, and the most popular mid-laner in the world Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok.

T1’s heavy hitters dominate the award night

Unsurprisingly, T1, the world title runner-up and one of the LCK’s most consistent teams, received a number of awards. T1’s top laner Choi “Zeus” Woo-je, jungler Mun “Oner” Hyeon-jun, and support Ryu “Keria” Min-seok all won Player of the Year awards for their respective positions.

T1 achieved the first undefeated split in LCK history during the spring 2022 LCK split, and they also had the first-ever support player to earn Most Valuable Player. Keria served as T1’s lynchpin in 2022, displaying match-winning performances both regionally and internationally throughout the year.

Gen.G’s Ruler bagged the Bot Laner of the Year Award

The bot laner position was utterly filled with powerhouses in every significant area in 2022, but Gen.Park G’s “Ruler” Jae-hyuk stood out for his exceptional play. Ruler, who won the 2022 LCK Summer split MVP award, was the best player in the best region in the second half of 2022. Although his team finished second at Worlds 2022, Ruler had an outstanding tournament, which helped him earn his first Bot Laner of the Year Award.
