Group B of DreamLeague S21 is full of spectacular teams, including the winner of the most recent Dota 2 tournament, BetBoom Dacha. Gaimin Gladiators will have to face some tough opponents in this group, and the format could prove to be tricky.

Only two of the six teams will advance to the upper bracket, which is very important for them if they want to give themselves two chances of winning the competition. The teams who could realistically steal their spot are Team Spirit, BetBoom, and Quest Esports.

Group B participants

Here are the six teams that will compete in group B of DreamLeague S21:

  • BetBoom Team
  • Evil Geniuses
  • Gaimin Gladiators
  • OG
  • Quest Esports
  • Team Spirit

The two biggest favorites are Gladiators and Spirit. The latter won Riyadh Masters and The International 10 with almost the same roster that they’re competing with today, so they should be regarded as a very tough opponent to beat by any of the other participants.

Gladiators need no introduction at this point. They won all three DPC Majors, including the last two editions of DreamLeague. At Riyadh Masters they finished 4th after Talon Esports sent them home. But other than that, their entire season has been a huge success.

DreamLeague S21 would be their 11th top four result this year, if they can pull it off. If they play as they usually do, there aren’t that many teams who can stop them. The most important part is to secure an upper bracket spot. The rest will be quite easy because the best-of-three format favors them against all of the teams in the race.

BetBoom had a poor result at BetBoom Dacha, even though it was practically their own tournament. They finished all three matches in the group stage with a draw. And because of the rules, which stated that a draw is worth 1 point while a victory is worth 3 points, they were 4th in their group and failed to qualify for the playoffs.

At DreamLeague S21, they should prove capable of avoiding an early elimination. That’s the least that’s expected from them. With teams like OG, Evil Geniuses, and Quest Esports in their group, they should prove capable of finishing somewhere between 1st and 4th.

We haven’t seen Quest competing since Riyadh Masters, where they finished 7th-8th. This tournament will provide a great chance for them to boost their confidence ahead of The International 12.
