The semifinals of Worlds 2022 are scheduled to take place on October 29 and October 30. But they will be played late at night, so the actual dates for European viewers will be October 30 and October 31.

At this point, the League of Legends World Championship feels a lot like an LCK playoff. Three of the four remaining teams are from South Korea and there’s a high chance that the Grand Final will be played between two Korean teams. So far, T1 and Gen.G Esports have looked strong enough to qualify for the last match of the tournament.

JD Gaming vs. T1

JDG were very strong in the second half of this season, but they were not dominant from the start. This suggests that they are the typical strong Chinese team but not at all impossible to beat.

In LPL Spring, JDG lost five of their 16 matches despite the best-of-three format. And they finished fourth overall. Then, in LPL Summer, they did significantly better (14 W – 2 L) and finished first overall. But they still struggled to win against opponents like Top Esports, who are no longer in the race at Worlds.

In fact, Top Esports didn’t even survive the group stage. This is a clear indication that JDG are probably significantly weaker than T1, even though they both qualified for the semifinals of Worlds 2022.

T1 won LCK Spring 2022, finished second at Mid-Season Invitational, and then got another second place in LCK Summer 2022 after getting defeated by Gen.G Esports in the Grand Final (0-3).

The individual talent of players like Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok and the overall strength of the team should carry T1 to a 3-1 or 3-2 victory in this match.

Gen.G vs. DragonX

Gen.G and DRX faced each other multiple times this year and the results heavily favor Gen.G. On top of that, Gen.G also defeated T1 and won LCK Summer 2022. These facts clearly suggest that they are the favorites in this match.

Both teams have one player who has won Worlds before. But Gen.G look significantly better prepared. Their road to the semifinals was also harder than DRX and the individual strength of their players is higher because of their vast experience.

DragonX’s roster is largely made up of prodigies. Gen.G’s is made up of tested prodigies who participated in multiple editions of Worlds. Some believe that this team will crush even T1 in the Grand Final, if the two teams survive the semifinals.
