Wisper and Ari join OG

OG’s management team (mostly N0tail) had to make some very important decisions regarding the 2024 roster. And from what it seems, the decision was to bring in some very underrated players from TSM and Evil Geniuses. These players are Ari and Wisper.

Both of them are very young and have the potential to do really well in Europe. But it’s still hard to believe that OG will thrive with this roster. The only way to do that is by having Ceb continuing to playing like in the good old days, and training just as hard. But that’s going to be very hard to do.

Ceb is now married and simply cannot play Dota for 10-12 hours a day. But his vast experience should allow him to stay near the top even with 50% of practice. However, Dota 2 is and has always been an esport in which you’re either one of the best teams in the world or you’re probably losing money.

Given OG’s massive success at previous editions of The International, it’s probably not a big tragedy if this roster turns out to be mediocre. But it will hurt the prestige of the team. Since N0tail retired, OG’s ranking in Europe has gone from top four to something like top 10.

One thing is certain: the team did not qualify for The International 2023, which means that there’s a lot of work to be done until the start of 2024. The first tournament will take place in December, and unfortunately nothing’s been announced yet for next year. But hopefully, ESL will step in and prepare a few more tournaments until Spring.

Wisper and Ari

Wisper used to be EG’s position 3 player. On OG, he will play the same role and Ceb will become the position 5 player. That will also give him the opportunity to be an excellent captain. Ari will also keep his position 4 role, which means that both of the new players will be used at their maximum skill level.

This is good news for OG, but we still need to see this roster competing against the likes of Team Liquid, Gaimin Gladiators, and others. There’s a decent chance that the results will be good. But things could also go in a really bad direction.

We should remember what happened to Team Secret after selling Nisha and replacing him at the start of the 2023 season. It was a total disappointment!
