Movements continue in the VCT Americas for the upcoming season, and once again, we have the South American squad, Leviatán, in the spotlight.

In this opportunity, the South American organization announced the signing of former The Guard player and winner of the VCT Ascension Americas 2023, Ian “tex” Botsch. Likewise, it is fair to mention that tex changes his role to Sentinel in this new lineup that, without a doubt, promises to give many emotions next season.

On the other hand, this becomes Leviatán’s second move in recent days, as we remember that the current MVP of the VCT Americas League, Erick “aspas” Santos signed with Leviatán recently. Some reports several days ago mentioned that tex and aspas would “share” the role of Duelists in Leviatán. However, it is confirmed that the North American will be switching roles to play with Chamber.

Leviatán announce the signing of tex

Through a post on its Twitter account, Leviatán announced the signing of VCT Ascension 2023 winner Ian “tex” Botsch ahead of VCT 2024.

As we know, tex was one of the best duelists in NA from his debut with NRG in 2021 until the end of 2022. However, he could not reach his dreams, as he only played tournaments in the Challengers scene with NRG.

In the same way, tex always showed his skills and quality within the servers, mainly thanks to his excellent mechanical skills and his aim.

Finally, the high point of his career came when he signed with The Guard to play the 2023 season. That Guard lineup was really good, as it was composed of the best Tier 2 players in NA, but Tex was always the team’s spearhead.

Tex and his departure from The Guard

Undoubtedly, The Guard’s victory at VCT Ascension 2023 made everyone think that tex and the rest of his teammates would stay with the organization, as they earned their spot in the VCT Americas for 2024 and 2025.

However, this changed when Riot Games denied The Guard to keep the quota for different reasons, so the players had to go to free agency to find a new home.

After several days of anticipation, it was announced that G2 Esports would fill The Guard’s spot by signing most of the roster except Tex. As a result, the American shared a post where he clarified that he was a free agent and was willing to play as a Sentinel or Duelist.

Undoubtedly, Leviatán took full advantage of this situation and closed the signing almost immediately. As a result, this lineup is now loaded with exceptional players who will undoubtedly provide plenty to talk about in the upcoming VCT season.
