What we know about new League champion Milio

No new champions have yet been added to the League of Legends 2023 lineup, but the release of Milio should change that in the coming weeks.

Ixtal’s Milio, a male support enchanter, is expected to be the first champion of this year’s League. The PBE servers were updated after patch 13.3 became available to the servers, and a Milio teaser was added to the lower lane alcove.

Players going to the bottom lane on the PBE servers will now be able to see Milio. The small orange blob, sometimes known as a fire companion, sits in an alcove. However, looking for him in the Summoner’s Rift bot lane is not surprising, as he’s a support champion.

We first heard about Milio in August 2022 when one of the gameplay designers, Riot Ryan “Reav3” Mireles, talked about him. By then, Milio was in the early stages of development.

Who is Milio?

Milio is a young enchanter from Ixtal who, unlike what is known from Qiyana mythology, shows a very different aspect of the region. Milio uses fire magic, according to the 2023 season promo released by the developers. However, he will heal his companions instead of doing damage with his fire.

We anticipate that the three orange creatures, supposedly known as fire buddies, will play an essential role in Milio’s toolbox.

What is the role of the new Champion, Milio?

He is most likely a support champion due to his kit, which relies on his use of fire magic to heal his friends.

According to champions product manager Lexi “Lexical” Gao:

“Milio utilizes fire to heal wounds instead of razing towns, demonstrating a fantastic comprehension of the fire axiom at an early age.”

Unfortunately, Milio’s outfit and abilities have not yet been revealed. So it isn’t easy to know whether or not he will be suitable for other professions.

When will Milio arrive in the game?

It is not yet clear when Milio will be available. However, certain inferences can be made from the most recent teases.

After Riot releases the Ahri and Aurelion Sol patches, Milio is expected to be the first new champion of 2023. As such, Milio should be available soon because these changes were already incorporated into the game in patch 13.3. He may make his PBE debut in the next patch, which would suggest that he could join the Summoner’s Rift on March 8.
