The second day of Week 4 of the VCT EMEA League culminated with only one result; Giants managed to give a hard blow to FÜT Esports to accumulate their third tournament victory. Also, it should be noted that the match between KOI and Fnatic was suspended due to several black&Orange players testing positive for COVID-19.

However, the only match we had on this fourth day of the VCT EMEA League left us with the third consecutive victory of Giants. The Spanish team started the tournament with many doubts after losing on the opening day against Fnatic and NaVi. However, they have shown an impressive awakening after winning all the matches from that moment on.

On the other hand, FÜT Esports accumulates its second defeat, and both teams are equal in the table with a 3-2 record.

KOI vs. Fnatic suspended by COVID-19

The day’s first match would be played between KOI and Fnatic and was looking to be really exciting. However, several Fnatic players tested positive for COVID-19, so the organizers postponed the match to allow the players to recover.

In the announcement, VCT EMEA emphasizes that they will refund the ticket money to the fans in the coming days. In addition, they wish a speedy recovery to the players who are indisposed right now.

Giants crush FÜT Esports and add their third win of the tournament

There is no doubt that the Spanish team has woken up, as after losing their first two games in Week 1 (Super Week), they have managed to get back on track to win the next three games. In addition, how they won this matchday (2-0) against the Turkish FÜT Esports shows their current high level and drive for the rest of the tournament.

The series was played in Icebox (FÜT Esports) and Split (Giants).

Icebox

The Spanish team showed a spectacular defensive approach impenetrable by the Turks on the first map. After FÜT won the pistol round, Giants managed to strike back immediately to win nine consecutive rounds to take a 9-1 lead. Finally, FÜT won one more round to give them some hope for a change of sides. Žygimantas “nukkye” Chmieliauskas (195 ADR, 257 ACS, and 1.75 Rating) and Aaro “hoody” Peltokangas (211 ADR, 326 ACS, and 1.89 Rating) were responsible for stopping all of FÜT’s offenses in the first half.

In the second half, FÜT Esports tried to pressure Giants by winning the first two rounds. However, the road was too uphill for the Turks, and they could not stop three of the Spanish team’s next four offenses and ended up falling 5-13.

Split

We arrived at the second map, and Giants started with spectacular force and inspiration, winning the first six rounds on the attacking side. However, FÜT managed to wake up to win four rounds in this half to make up the score at 8-4. Adolfo “Fit1nho” Gallego (165 ADR, 242 ACS, and 1.42 Rating) carried Giants in this first half.

At the change of sides, we could observe a completely different FÜT. Even though they lost three of the first four rounds and the score was 11-5, the team did not put their heads down and started to attack Giants hard. Konur “qw1” Şahin woke up his team on the attacking side, and they managed to put the score 12-11. Finally, Giants won the last round of the map to take the victory 13-11.
