Two Lima Major dark horses

Lima Major is just a few weeks away and the best Dota 2 teams in the world are eager to prove themselves once more in front of a huge crowd.

We haven’t seen anything spectacular since the end of The International 2022, which was a great tournament to watch. But this upcoming South American Major might be just as intense.

The favorites are not hard to notice. They’ve already finished Tour 1 undefeated in their regions and look ready to defeat any kind of opposition. But the dark horses are harder to guess. These are teams with tremendous potential that are underrated at the moment because of their most recent results.

Tundra Esports are still the TI champions

Tundra had a rough start this season and got defeated by three teams in Western Europe: Team Liquid, Entity, and Gaimin Gladiators. All of these teams will be at the Major. But when it comes to playing on a big stage, Tundra’s TI 11 experience will likely prove to be a great asset.

Quite often, Dota 2 is not just about tactics and strategy. It’s also about the confidence and the ability to play completely relaxed, expecting to win the match. This might lead the TI champions to a great result in Lima.

The meta hasn’t changed that much since the end of The International 2022 and Tundra haven’t made a single roster move. So despite their 4 W – 3 L regional record and the fact that they had to survive a tiebreaker to qualify for the tournament, it’s hard to imagine Oliver “skiter” Lepko not getting at least a top six result.

Talon Esports have 23savage

Sometimes, having a superstar on your roster can help you get much further than people expect. In Talon’s case, the fact that Nuengnara “23savage” Teeramahanon is there to carry is a big plus. He was the first Dota 2 player to reach 12.000 MMR and then 13.000 MMR.

This kind of consistency means a lot and Dota and should give Talon the opportunity to become one of the tournament’s dark horses. Under normal conditions, this team would probably finish 13^th-16^th. But if 23savage has a good tournament, Talon could easily get a top eight result.

One thing that will be of great help this time compared to the previous season is the presence of Anucha “Jabz” Jirawong. In 2022, Talon didn’t have a top captain. Now they do.
