We all have our nemesis when it comes to video game characters. There are many heroes, agents, operators, and champions that you have absolutely no desire to play against.

This can be for a number of reasons — their kit is too strong, they’re just not beatable, or they’re just annoying. You can see how annoying it can get in today’s top 10 list of the most annoying characters in video games.

10. Lion (R6)

Our list starts with the character Lion from the first-person shooter Rainbow Six Siege. Lion is an operator on the side of the attackers, who was released in 2018. What makes him special is that he is equipped with an extremely annoying gadget: the EE ONE D drone. This allows him to perform a scan of the entire map. If enemy players move during this scan, they become visible to the team even through walls. Especially in a game like Rainbow Six, where you have to keep moving a lot and can often be shot down through walls, this gadget is extremely annoying.

9. Breach (Valorant)

Breach is an agent from the game Valorant, which has been present since release. Anyone who has played Valorant is familiar with Breach and his incredible amount of crowd control. Each of his abilities comes with a CC, some of which can even stun allied teammates. As if that wasn’t bad enough, Breach can use all of his abilities through walls. So he doesn’t even have to stand near you to restrict your movements. Then there are his 3 flashbangs, which stun for an immensely long time with a duration of 2 seconds each. Of course, he can also fire this ability through walls. Playing against Breach means never being able to move freely, so to speak. Nowhere is safe from the CC machine.

8. Bayonetta (Smash)

When Nintendo made the official announcement that Bayonetta would soon be a playable character in Super Smash Bros, the joy was great. The joy wasn’t long-lasting, however, when the time finally came and players realized how completely overpowered she already was upon release. She was so strong in the meantime that people seriously considered banning her from tournaments. Her kit had so many options that allowed her to dominate the game in both advantage and disadvantage. But it didn’t stop there. Her combos were so strong that she could sometimes shot opponents from 0% one. And this is what her kit looked like after the first nerf. Many Super Smash Bros players claim that the release of Bayonetta killed the game.

7. Teemo (LoL)

At first glance, the League of Legends mascot seems like a pleasant contemporary. But if you’ve met Teemo before, you know that it’s better not to mess with him. Unlike other champions in League of Legends, it’s not his kit that’s too strong. It’s just extremely annoying to play against. He can turn invisible, walk around invisibly in bushes and has an ability to block auto attacks. But that’s not all: by far the most frustrating thing is his mushrooms. Teemo can place invisible mushrooms that explode when enemies run through them. Imagine surviving a teamfight by a hair’s breadth, only to run into one of his mushrooms and die. Teemo definitely has great rage potential.

6. Sombra (Overwatch)

Sombra is a hero from the video game Overwatch, who appeared a few months after the title’s release. She lives up to her class as a damage dealer, but that is not her most annoying characteristic. Sombra specializes in hacking. She can hack absolutely anything on the map: Enemies who then can’t use abilities. Shields and barriers that enemies have deployed and are immediately nullified. It’s just not fun to play against her. It’s at least as little fun to play with her. The only player who has fun with Sombra gameplay is the Sombra player herself. Add to that her unlimited invisibility, which allows her to walk into the backline unnoticed and take out the carries there. Sombra isn’t unbalanced or unfair, she’s just annoying.

5. Raze (Valorant)

The second Valorant agent to make it onto our list is Raze. Much like Breach, she’s been a staple of the game since release and has been the source of a nerve or two. Her abilities revolve around explosions. Their radius and damage is mainly what frustrates players the most who have to play against them. Valorant is a tactical shooter that is all about aim and precision. Whoever designed Raze probably didn’t consider that. All of her abilities require no aiming accuracy whatsoever, which is what makes her so incredibly annoying.

4. Mei (Overwatch)

Ranking 4th on our list is Mei from the game Overwatch. Mei isn’t a particularly strong hero, as she doesn’t do immense damage and is otherwise heavily dependent on the layout of the map being played on. It is the aspect that her kit is focused on destroying enemy gameplay. Her combo of freeze and icicle can often be quite frustrating for the opponent, as she can freeze anyone virtually without a cooldown. Add to that her wall, which can cancel both enemy and allied combos. She is also almost impossible to kill due to all the crowd control and her Self Heal. She is so annoying that players who pick Mei regularly get reported because of it.

3. Yuumi (LoL)

Yuumi is an Enchanter Support who first entered Summoners Rift in League of Legends in 2019. Since then, hardly any champion in League has been more hated. The problem with her is her extremely boring but effective kit. Yuumi can move herself, but 90% of the time she is attached to an ally and flies around the map with them. Normally, enchanters are very squishy and easy to kill. However, once attached to a teammate, Yuumi becomes unattackable, but can still cast abilities. Meaning you don’t even have to move, don’t have to pay attention to your positioning, but can still intervene in the game considerably. In addition, it is a true coin flip. Either it’s completely useless, or completely overpowered. Some bots have been programmed to pick Yuumi every game and attach themselves to the AD carry. One of these bot accounts even managed to climb to Diamond without playing a single game itself. Even in Pro Play, Yuumi is highly controversial: pros regularly vent their frustrations about the design publicly.

2. Techies (Dota 2)

In Dota2, as in all mobas, it’s all about team play. There are champions who synergize better or worse with each other. And then there are Techies. Techies was released in 2014 and was designed at the time to throw all the principles of Dota out the window and completely ignore the team. Techies is similar to Teemo from League of Legends, except that the mines he places on the map usually result in an oneshot. When Techies is on the opposing team, it feels more like playing Minesweeper than Dota. He’s annoying for both the opposing team and his own team, and his kit really has no place in a tactical moba.

1. Ice Climbers (Smash)

The first place on our list is occupied by the Ice Climbers from Super Smash Bros. The Ice Climbers actually have a pretty simple, balanced kit. If it weren’t for this one ability that makes them the most hated and annoying characters. We are talking about the so-called Wobbling. Wobbling is a way to KO an opponent without giving them a chance to escape. One Ice Climber can grab the opponent and hold him, while the other one can wobble him continuously. Once your character is grabbed by the Ice Climbers, you can watch your opponent pound away at you for minutes at a time. A mistake against this duo will result in guaranteed death. The fact that you can’t get out of the attack and are absolutely powerless makes them the most annoying video game characters you definitely don’t want to play against.
