European League of Legends has seen various things happen throughout its near decade-long history from the brilliant execution of legendary plays to the emergence of dominant teams. Similarly, an infinite amount of players have appeared in the region’s biggest stage, each of who are cultivating their own career in the game.

As LoL approaches its second decade in its existence, the conversation over who should be regarded as the best players in European history has remained rampant throughout the scene’s consciousness.

For this purpose, in no particular order, here are our top 10 League of Legends players in European history.

Perkz

Was there ever any doubt behind including the legendary Croatian mid-laner in this list? Truly, Perkz has overrun the European LoL scene since formally entering the scene in 2016, having won eight league championships, eight All-Pro team selections, an MSI title, and a Worlds finals appearance. On top of looking at his accolades, he’s widely regarded as the person who put G2 Esports on the esports map. Without Perkz, there is no G2. Without Perkz, European LoL wouldn’t be in the high position it is in now. Without Perkz, there’d be a major void in a list such as this.

Jankos

In a career that spans nearly a decade, which allowed him to play more matches than anyone else in the continent, Jankos was the focal point for a myriad of great teams that is still revered by fans to this day. Case in point: H2K in Worlds 2016 & G2’s era of dominance in 2019-21. Taking account of his consistent display of prominent aggression, which is encapsulated by his nickname “The First Blood King”, in addition to his colorful personality that helped build him an audience beyond the Rift, there’s no surprise then to view Jankos as the greatest jungler in European LoL history.

Caps

From being known as a promising talent with a knack of playing unconventional champions, caPs has become one of the best mid-laners the region has seen. As a matter of fact, it might be argued he could be the best ever, even surpassing Perkz. In any case, it’s impossible to deny his competitive track record that supports the claim. Seven-time EU champion, five Worlds appearances, back-to-back Worlds finals appearances for different organizations, and a three-time MVP. Even after consolidating as an established player, caPs continues to dazzle as a major figure in the LEC.

Rekkles

As one of Fnatic’s centerpiece players, Rekkles amassed an umatchable line both in the award and stat department within his position. He is the first person to reach 1k, 1.5k, and 2k kills in the region. He holds the most pentakills out of anyone in Europe (10). He helped sustain Fnatic’s place near the top of the EU scene for more than a handful of years. When one talks about European AD Carries, one has to include Rekkles in the conversation. Moreover, they have to view him as the one of the absolute best.

Odoamne

Though it is true Odoamne hasn’t accrued the same level of success like his peers, that shouldn’t obstruct his standing amidst the conversation over who the best players in EU’s history are. On the contrary, his longevity and individual excellence as a top laner allowed him to remain near the top of the league should warrant consideration on his place. Seven EU All-Pro selections, four Worlds appearances, and 478 total games played (fourth most all-time in EU) attest to his consistency, and with Odoamne finally winning his first league title in the 2022 summer split, there should then be no doubt over whether or not he belongs in this list. By our metric, he certainly does.

Wunder

Wunder is yet another top laner that laid his own mark in the European LoL in his career. In his near decade-long journey in the scene, the Danish top laner has collected a handful amount of league titles, as many Worlds appearances, an MSI trophy, and 10 All-Pro selections as of this writing. Furthermore, thanks to his long career, Wunder resides in the Top 10 of all major statistical categories such as total kills (7th all-time in EU), deaths (4th), and assists (8th). No matter where Wunder is, whether he is with Splyce, G2, or Fnatic, one can surely expect to see him hold his own on the weakside of the Rift.

As fans are enamored with the current stars that grace the LEC main stage, it becomes difficult for some of them to take a moment and reflect on the league’s past when it featured big names like YellOwStaR, one of the first great supports in the region. It’s no wonder then that by the third year of the EU LCS, he already won five league titles, which remains the most out of any EU support in history.

Hylissang

The support position has seen numerous players come and go in EU over the years, but in the midst of the endless carousel, there have been a few who remained as vital constants. One of such players is Hylissang, who played for Unicorns of Love and Fnatic over eight years in his career. Renowned for his endless aggressiveness and tenacity to roam well outside of the bot lane, Hylissang spearheaded his teams’ offense that helped them secure numerous high places in European and international play.

sOAZ

No person best serves as the bridge between the start of Western pro LoL and the present, not to mention being known as its first great top laner, more than sOAZ. The Frenchman, from when he competed in the inaugural World Championship and finished as runner-up, would continue competing to the present day for numerous other teams, namely Fnatic, Misfits Gaming, and Origen. Through his shrewd play, he would garner five league titles and six Worlds appearances (two of which culminated in finals). Though time will pass and the scene continues well into its second decade, there’s no denying sOAZ will remain in the fans and players’ consciousness indefinitely.

Nukeduck

Though our selection of Nukeduck will definitely surprise fans in reading this list, it’s hard to argue against not featuring him given how his career transpired on the individual front. Nukeduck was present for virtually the entire existence of high-level European LoL. Since starting in 2013 Nukeduck has gone to amass the third-most kills (1,258) and third-most assists (1,922) among mid-laners in EU history, becoming a dependable player in his position for various teams in his career. That has led to him garnering three All-Pro selections and a Worlds appearance, of which happened in 2013 with Lemondogs.
