Top 10 disastrous missclicks in esports

When playing at the highest level, the smallest mistake can make all the difference. Maybe the mouse went crazy or you fingered it again – whatever it is, as an esports player you don’t forget such a fail so quickly.

A single wrong click can mean the difference between a player’s name going down in history or being immortalized as a meme. Here are our top 10 misclicks in esports.

10. Insania

In tenth place we have a tragic misclick from Alliance player Insania at The International. Imagine you are on stage at one of the most important matches of your life. Actually, you want to ban a specific hero and not pick, but then something goes wrong and you click wrong. This is exactly what happened when Insania wanted to ban Gyrocopter and instead pecked him. RNG couldn’t believe their luck, but for Alliance it meant they had to completely rethink their team comp plans and play with heroes they didn’t really want. That must have been particularly uncomfortable for Insania, who probably still wonders to this day if they could have won millions of dollars that day if he hadn’t clicked wrong.

9. kYxY

Let’s move on to another misclick in Dota that happened again at the TI. It happened to player kYxY at TI3, and it’s been a while, but we still remember how he denied himself and his team the win. In the elimination match, he and his team Orange only had to grab the Aegis to win. That was the absolute tilter they lost the game with, even though Orange actually had a huge lead. That misclick became a meme and if you make a mistake in Dota today, the teammates will happily say they had kyxy on the team. A misclick that keeps happening!

8. WildTurtle

At number eight on our list, we have a misclick that at least didn’t cost the team the win. In the summer of 2014, WildTurtle played for TSM and they faced Dignitas in Best of 5. After Dignitas won the first match, TSM had their backs to the wall in the second game. The game had grown into a 65-minute game and the moment he clicked two of his mates were dead. So WildTurtle decided to try a backdoor and didn’t need many more hits as Lucian Nexus But then he was quickly surrounded by his opponents who wanted to defend their base. Instead of the last auto attack, he activates his ultimate, but it doesn’t damage the Nexus and costs him valuable seconds because he’s caught in the animation. Luckily they were able to win the game shortly afterwards.

7. MMA

Seventh place goes to a Starcraft legend who was really, really tilted after the draw. We’re talking about MMA’s misclick, which IdrA didn’t notice. IdrA is known for his skills in the game, but also for his ragequits if things don’t go so well. But if he hadn’t quit this time and played the game to the end, he probably would have won. During a 2011 MLG Pro Circuit game, IdrA’s opponent MMA misclicked and accidentally destroyed one of his own command centers. The casters knew what happened, but IdrA had no idea. He had a bad fight and then thought he didn’t have enough units left to win the match. MMA’s misclick went unpunished and IdrA was probably even angrier when he found out.

6. Kramer

One of the worst misclicks you can make in League of Legends is logging in the wrong champion. This includes Teemo, at least in pro-play. Maybe that will change eventually, but Teemo has never been good at competitive matches. Kramer knew that too, of course, and the fact that he suddenly pecked at him was clearly an accident. In the end, however, it was not he who had to pay for his mistake, but his top planner. The Teemo, which nobody wanted, was placed on the weakside and although he really didn’t feed, unfortunately he didn’t have any impact either. In the end, of course, the little yordle couldn’t carry and CJ lost the second match of the series.

5. B0aty

In fifth place we have a Runescape streamer known for his hardcore Ironman accounts: B0aty. But then it was all over with one death. His challenge not to die had been running for nine months in July 2020, but then there was a careless moment that ruined the tour for him. His in-game death wasn’t caused epic by a dragon or other dangerous monster, but came about because he unfortunately made the mistake of going to the toilet without getting to safety. When he returned from his session, all he could find was that nine months’ hard work had been wasted. While not a misclick per se, it might have survived if it had clicked at all.

4. aizy

Fourth on our list, we continue with a CS player who fired a warning shot: aizy. At IEM Katowice 2017, his North team had their backs to the wall against the Immortals. Aizy was quietly defending the A-side and was waiting for the right moment. Then, just as the bomb was being planned, aizy saw his last opponent before they could see him. But then a shot came out of nowhere from aizy’s gun, with which he gave himself away. That misclick must have been particularly awkward. After revealing his position, he was quickly located and brought down.

3. Siki

A heartbreaking misclick that created an own goal lands in our third spot. An own goal is never nice, whether it’s in soccer or Rocket League, but sometimes it just happens and of course that’s doubly bad. Siki is still struggling with that. This all happened during overtime in the match between Veloce and Renegades. It was close and if the Renegades had lost, it would have been the end of the tournament for them. An own goal is always uncomfortable, of course, but when it happens in an important tournament game, it’s even more painful. In Rocket League, however, everything moves very quickly and sometimes it is simply unavoidable that the ball accidentally flies in the wrong direction.

2. Summit1g

The second place on our list goes to Summit1g. Of course, his legendary misclick shouldn’t be missing from the Dreamhack. Things actually went quite well for him and his team there, probably just too well. To win the match, all he had to do was kill the last player and defuse the bomb. The first part of it also worked well, but nobody could have guessed what happened next. He fat-fingered his W key and ran straight into molly in front of him. As a result, he was unfortunately burned and lost the lap. Unfortunately, this resulted in Splyce losing the round and the series going into overtime. They lost that too and ended up being kicked out of the tournament.

1. Sockshka

That brings us to first place, and for that, we finally come back to TI3. The match between Rattlesnake and Quantic actually went well for Quantic. Rattlesnake were about to retreat and Sockshka had set up a perfect cross. All he had to do was make sure his storm hammer hit pretty much every opponent except Boar. Quantic lost the game with that misclick, but at least it also earned Sockshka the title of Boar Destroyer.
