CS:GO is full of talented players and Robin “robz” Kool is one of the best. Recently, he was ranked eighth by hltv in the top 20 CS:GO players of 2022. This award was fully deserved by the FaZe Clan member. In fact, some believe he should have been in the top five.

Ropz started playing CS:GO when he was very young but it took him a while to start competing professionally. His first important team was mousesports (now MOUZ) and he joined them in 2017. He stayed there for four and a half years and then joined his current team, FaZe Clan, with whom he achieved the best results of his career.

Why 2022 was a great year for ropz

It’s hard to want a better year than the one ropz had in 2022. Potentially, you could have one, because CS:GO is full of S-tier tournaments and the ideal result is to win every one of them. But even if you only win four of the most prestigious ones, you still accomplished a lot.

In 2022, FaZe Clan won the title at IEM Katowice, ESL Pro League Season 15, PGL Major Antwerp, and IEM Cologne. Every single one of these tournaments was watched by more than a million fans in total, so ropz is now one of the most famous players in CS:GO.

Of course, he was strong even before joining FaZe Clan. That’s how he got noticed by the club and received an offer to join Finn “karrigan” Andersen’s new team. But only after he started competing alongside teammates of similar caliber did he begin to shine as brightly as he does now.

On MOUZ, the opportunities for success were fewer and much harder to materialize. But on FaZe Clan, ropz gets the benefit of competing at every top tournament. Usually, his team’s odds of winning are quite high.

It will be interesting to see what ropz does in 2023. Given the number of tournaments he’s won so far, he is incredibly young. At just 23, he could easily continue to play for at least 5-7 more years.

Now that he found a team of incredibly talented players, he probably wants to stay here as much as possible. Based on FaZe Clan’s current ranking and performance, there’s no reason to suspect that he or anyone else on the roster will be changed in the coming months.

Right now, FaZe Clan want to repeat in 2023 what they did in 2022. And if they achieve even half of their objective, this will have been a great year for them.
