Skins have been an integral part of video games for ages. Some you see in every game, others maybe only once in a lifetime, and others are so rare that they don’t exist yet.

They come in all sorts of shapes and colors. But which of them are the real rarities? We have compiled the top 10 rarest skins in esports for you. Have fun!

10. Fortnite Galaxy skins

Our list starts with a clever collaboration between Fortnite and Samsung, where players could get the Galaxy Skin in Fortnite when they bought a new Samsung smartphone. For a short time, the skin could be unlocked by players who logged into their Fortnite account using a pre-ordered Samsung Galaxy smartphone.

The smartphone cost just over $1000 at the time, making the skin not exactly a bargain. But real skin fanatics were not deterred by this. The offer has now expired, so there is no chance of unlocking the skin today.

9. P2000 Granite Marbleized Factory New

A real mystery is this Counter-Strike skin from the DreamHack 2013 Souvenir Box, specifically the P2000 skin “Granite Marbleized” with stickers from the said tournament. What’s special about the skin, aside from being extremely rare, is the fact that all copies of the skin appear to be lost.

The last time it was sighted was in a player’s Steam inventory in 2018. Since then, the skin has disappeared from the inventory and has not reappeared to date. The skin is so rare that no one knows who currently owns it.

8.King Rammus

Crossovers in video games are often welcome features from developers, and Crossover skins in particular are very popular. It’s almost a pity that you can no longer unlock the King Rammus skin in League of Legends.

King Rammus was only awarded to players in North America and Brazil who were invited to the closed beta prior to the release of LoL in 2009. Inspired by Bowser from Super Mario, the skin was only made available to around 250,000 players, not all of whom necessarily played the beta. When you meet King Rammus in the Summoners Rift, you know you’re dealing with a gamer from the very beginning.

7. Street Fighter V Champions Choice Costumes

It’s common these days for teams or players in major esports titles to get their own line of skins by winning an event. The winners of the Capcom Street Fighter World Championship are even allowed to design their own skin to be implemented into the game. Anyone can purchase these skins, but world champions will get a unique version of the skin for their account.

Smaller, personal details are added to the skin, such as the hairstyle, wedding ring or earrings of the winners of the Capcom tournament. The skins are theoretically accessible to everyone. However, the prerequisite for this, namely the victory of a Street Fighter major, is a lot more difficult.

6. Rainbow Six Black Ice Skins

Number 6 on our list are the Black Ice Skins from Rainbow Six Siege, which were a part of Operation Black Ice released in 2016. Unlike many of the skins on this list, the Black Ice skins are not purchasable. It takes a real marathon to get it. First, you have to be lucky enough to get an Alpha Pack in Rainbow Six.

The contents of this pack have to be epic, only to then pray that this epic item is a Black Ice camouflage. This has a drop chance of less than 2%. As if that weren’t enough, you have to hope that the skin is for a weapon or operator that you enjoy playing. If you have overcome all these hurdles, you have a skin with the Black Ice collection that is definitely worth the trouble.

5. Runescape Party Hats

If you’ve ever touched the Runescape game, you’ll probably be familiar with the Runescape Party Hats. They are by far the most valuable items in the game. You could first get these hats from the Christmas firecrackers during the 2001 Christmas event but were canceled shortly after release, which raised their value to an unbelievable level. There are now only a few party hats left in Runescape, and it’s been 2 decades since the drop. By the way, the blue party hat is the most expensive hat in the game at 13 billion gold.

4. P-Body Fall Guys

Fall Guys is best known for its countless different skins. However, one skin outperformed them all at a certain point after release: the P-Body skin. You can now buy the skin with crowns, but that wasn’t always the case. In August 2020, the official Fall Guys account tweeted that they had given the statistically best player in the world a unique skin.

The community was puzzled for days about who was the “fallen one” until Twitch streamer Dr. Lupo took a closer look at his inventory and found said skin in it. For the next few days, Dr. Lupo was the only player in the world who could call the costume his own. After that, you could exchange the P-Body like all other skins in the shop for a few crowns.

3. M4A4 Howl

The legendary M4A4 Howl from CS:GO made it onto the podium in 2013, when Valve first encouraged its community to design skins for weapons. If they got enough upvotes in the workshop, they would eventually be included in the game. This is how the M4A4 Howl found its way into CS:GO. However, the skin was changed one year later due to copyright complaints from the original artist.

The original skin is still in the game and became a real collector’s item almost overnight. In 2020, a copy was sold for a whopping $100,000. And all because a user stole an artist’s design and transferred it to a gun. Sometimes the skin community is just crazy.

2. Rusty Blitzcrank

In League of Legends, it sometimes happens that skins are removed from the shop after a certain time and can therefore no longer be unlocked. This also applies to the Rusty Blitzcrank skin, which was removed just three months after the release. This was probably due to the boring concept as the golem looked exactly like the vanilla Blitzcrank skin apart from some rust.

Since then, the rusty skin hasn’t been available for sale, and the only way to unlock it borders on sheer madness. You must own every single skin in League of Legends to unlock it. In other words, as of August 2022, that’s $3,556 to spend on skins just to pilot a rusty golem through Summoner’s Rift.

1. Kennedy Souvenir Dragon Lore

What happens when you combine the best AWPer with the most famous skin in Counter-Strike? You get a skin that doesn’t even exist yet. We are talking about the souvenir AWP Dragon Lore with stickers of the French sniper kennyS. The AWP Dragon Lore is only available through Tournament Drops. If you’re playing on a Major Cobblestone, spectating and lucky, you can get a box containing the legendary skin. Additionally, in this case, kennyS would have to be the MVP of the round the crate dropped in to have his sticker on it. Over the years, an estimated 5,000 boxes of exactly this type have been awarded and nobody has drawn a Dragon Lore from it yet. The chance for such a drop is 0.03%. Also, since Cobblestone is currently not being played in CS:GO’s competitive map rotation.
