Riot Games has joined other companies in providing financial support to Ukraine, which is at war with Russia. This will involve a week of collecting proceeds from the Battle Pass of various games and donating them to humanitarian relief efforts.

Battle Pass donation for Ukraine

Riot Games has announced that it will be donating the proceeds from the sales of Battle Passes from VALORANT, Teamfight Tactics and Legends of Runeterra for one week starting March 5. The money will be used to support Ukraine. In the press release, Riot Games also stated that proceeds from the new Biee skin line in League of Legends will contribute to the donation.

Until Saturday, March 12, all proceeds from Battle Passes from the mobile game Wild Rift, Legends of Runeterra, VALORANT and Teamfight Tactics will be donated. The money will go to humanitarian and relief projects in Ukraine. The same goes for the proceeds from the new releases of the Bee-Skin line. The Bee Skin line has recently been expanded with a few new skins, including Orbeeanna, BZZZigs, Nunu & Beelump and Heimerstinger.

In addition, Riot has planned to donate $1 million to three humanitarian organizations. These three organizations are Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors Without Borders) Medical Corps, and the Polish Red Cross, which is currently taking care of loads of Ukrainian refugees who fled their country and are currently waiting at the border.

At the moment, it is still unclear which organization will get the money from the Battle Pass and which from the Bee-Skin. However, Riot states that “all proceeds from both Riot’s donation and players’ fundraising will directly support humanitarian aid in Ukraine and other affected areas.”

Riot joins other companies with charity drive

Riot Games is not alone in this fundraising campaign. Meanwhile, several major companies from the tech, esports and gaming industries have responded to the war in Ukraine. Activision Blizzard has also promised help and wants to donate $300,000. Activision has pledged help to its affected colleagues in Ukraine, as well as to its colleagues in Poland who are taking care of refugees.

With the war and sanctions against Russia, there is chaos in the esports industry as well. ESL has decided that Russian teams will not be allowed to participate in ESL Pro League 15 and BLAST has also banned Russian teams from Premier events. This has led to a lot of frustration among Russian teams. Virtus.pro has been banned from several tournaments due to alleged ties to the Russian government and has been critical of the move.
