The Group Stage of the LEC Summer Split 2023 is history, and we have Team Heretics and Fnatic got the last two spots for the tournament playoffs. On the other hand, SK Gaming and Team BDS have fallen by the wayside and will now have to make different calculations to see if they can get the necessary points to qualify for Worlds 2023.

Undoubtedly, both Fnatic and Team Heretics deserve this qualification, as they have shown great play throughout this Summer Split. In addition, it is also worth noting that Fnatic manages to break free from the yoke of SK Gaming, as it is the first time they manage to beat them and at what time they do it.

Team Heretics, meanwhile, becomes the only Spanish team present in the Summer Split playoffs and will try to take the champions trophy to Spain for the second consecutive Split.

Let’s see what happened on the last day of the LEC Summer Split 2023 Group Stage.

Fnatic apply a clean sweep against SK Gaming

There is no doubt that Fnatic tends to show their best version when they are playing under a lot of pressure, and beating their tormentor, SK Gaming, gives them an excellent boost ahead of the tournament’s playoffs. On the other hand, it is also worth mentioning that this is the first time that Fnatic has qualified for the playoffs in this 2023 season. Remember that they finished in last place in the Winter Split, while in the Spring Split, they fell in the Group Stage.

There is no doubt that if there was a difficult team for Fnatic to beat, it was SK Gaming, their tormentors in recent times. However, an exemplary performance by Iván “Razork” Martín (MVP of the series) and Óscar “Oscarinin” Muñoz led the black&Orange squad to victory in this last BO3 of the LEC Summer Split 2023 Group Stage.

Team Heretics crush Team BDS to qualify for playoffs

The second game of the day saw the Spanish squad, Team Heretics, beat Team BDS 2-0 to seal their ticket to the playoffs. There is no doubt that we all imagined that it would be a tight series, which would be defined into three games. However, Team Heretics didn’t think the same way and managed a solid 2-0 victory.

Team BDS started the series very well in the first game and, at times, were ahead of Team Heretics in terms of gold. However, with a masterful performance from the birthday boy of the night, Marcin “Jankos” Jankowski, and teammate Vincent “Vetheo” Berrié (MVP of the series), Team Heretics pulled off a spectacular comeback to take the win in the first game.

Team Heretics then used the momentum they carried from the comeback in Game 1 to seal their 2-0 series win and punch their ticket to the LEC Summer Split 2023 playoffs.

Now, Team Heretics and Fnatic will play each other for a spot in the Lower Bracket finals in the playoffs.
