Team BDS fell in their first match of Worlds 2023 Play-In Stage

After defeating Golden Guardians in the Worlds 2023 playoff, Team BDS were eager to debut in the biggest League of Legends competitive scene tournament. However, that extraordinary 3-0 victory over the LCS squad did nothing but sow false positives, as their start at Worlds 2023 was a complete disaster.

The fourth representative of the LEC opened their participation in the Worlds with a disappointing 1-2 defeat against Team Whales, and right now, they are one and a half foot out of the tournament.

The Worlds 2023 Play-In Phase is in full swing, and right now, the teams have no margin for error, as a loss could cost them direct elimination from the tournament. The Swiss squad did not offer, not even close, their best level of play, and, with this defeat against Team Whales, they will have to play for their lives against DetonatioN FocusMe in the Elimination Match.

Team BDS disappoints in Worlds 2023 Debut

The joy of the 3-0 playoff victory over Golden Guardians was short-lived, as the team started their Worlds 2023 journey in the worst possible way. It is also fair to mention that the “favorite” teams of the LEC are waiting in the Group Stage. However, everything indicated that the table was set for Team BDS to qualify comfortably for the next phase.

Now, talking about this series between BDS and Team Whales, we can mention that the Swiss squad started in a great way, as Adam “Adam” Maanane gave a real lecture with Darius. As a result, Team BDS managed to take the victory in the first match in 23:48 minutes.

However, everything started to fade from the second map onwards, as the Frenchman gradually lost the lead in the match. While Team Whales’ AD Carry, Trần “Artemis” Quốc Hưng, took the baton to destroy Team BDS in both Match 2 and 3.

Team BDS and its chances to stay alive

After losing the first match of the Worlds 2023 Play-In phase to Team Whales, the future of Team BDS in the tournament is somewhat dark. However, it is worth noting that they still have a chance to stay alive.

The Swiss squad will face the Japanese Detonation FocusMe in the Elimination Match, who lost to CTBC Flying Oyster by 0-2. The match between Team BDS and DFM takes place next Friday, October 13 at 12:00 CEST.

If the LEC team wins against DFM, they will have to face the loser of the series between CFO and Team Whales in the Decider Match.
