Swiftplay mode stays permanently in VALORANT

Whenever Riot Games adds a new game mode to one of its flagships, it does so momentarily. The company avoids giving the community too much choice, instead opting for short but intense experiences. VALORANT fans, however, are in luck.

Swiftplay mode will leave its experimental phase to become a permanently available option from the next patch, 6.03, as officially announced by the developer. After the favorable reception that this mode has had among the community, this decision is taken.

VALORANT Swiftplay mode comes to the game permanently

This is what Coleman Palm, one of the key designers of VALORANT’s gameplay, has declared on the official social networks of the video game.

Coleman Palm explains:

“You obviously enjoyed it because it quickly became one of the most popular game modes. However, I have some news to share. Starting with Patch 6.03 (expected on February 22), we will be removing the Swiftplay Mode beta. From then on, it will be available permanently.”

He goes on to comment that this update does not imply that significant modifications will not be forthcoming in the future and clarifies:

“As with all other elements, we continue to look for ways to improve Swiftplay Mode.”

Modifications to the mode could involve alterations such as the following:

• Credits are allocated for each round
• The overall economy of the game mode
• The number of rounds necessary to win

Undoubtedly, Swiftplay Mode seeks to answer a critical community need. Although VALORANT offers short-lived gameplay options, most feature significant changes to the default game mode.

In this respect, their introduction will allow players to enjoy the express games without too many changes to the original experience. Furthermore, other games, such as Counter-Strike, have also started to add gameplay options for shorter games that maintain the traditional settings and only noticeably alter the game’s length.

The permanence of the Swiftplay game mode is not the only important novelty in game modes. The developers are planning to launch a new competitive mode, long-awaited by the community. In this game mode, users worldwide can imitate the games played in the VALORANT competitive scene.

It has also been announced that they will introduce a new team deathmatch mode worth paying attention to. This could mean that the company could modify one of the most famous match formats we are used to seeing in the game.
