Street Fighter player Zeng Zhuojun, aka Kid, has spoken about esports in China. He also explained how grateful he is that he was allowed to play as a child and has now made a career out of it.

Shanghai is hosting the “Shanghai Masters 2023” esports event, which brings together top players from all over the country at the Jing’an Sports Center. Until Tuesday, December 5, visitors can witness intense competitions in games such as “League of Legends”, “Honor of Kings”, “DOTA2” and “Identity V”. The game “Street Fighter” will also be presented. These games were only recently added to the Asian Games program.

The South Korean team GEN.G will take part in the “League of Legends” competitions, which will further increase the excitement among fans. Player Zeng Zhuojun, better known as Kid, took home the first trophy of the tournament on the opening day in the game “Street Fighter” after defeating his competitor Ding Yuhan aka DCQ.

Kid thanks father for early promotion

Zeng, who comes from Guangzhou and started playing at the age of six under the encouragement of his father, once again proved his skills. At the age of nine, he was already one of the best players in his home city and began collecting trophies in various competitions from the age of twelve.

Despite new personal commitments, such as parenthood, Zeng remains committed to esports and strives to continue achieving success: “At my age, there are a lot of new responsibilities in life,” said 34-year-old Zeng, who also recently became a father.
“Even if I can no longer devote 100 percent of my time to the sport and the games, I will still try to collect as many trophies as possible.”

Zeng expressed his delight at the rise of esports in China, as evidenced by the growing number of participants and followers.Viewership of esports competitions is now reaching levels comparable to traditional sports such as soccer and basketball.

The champion reflects on the positive impact esports has had on his life and is grateful for the support his father gave him as a child. He emphasizes the importance of developing a particular passion or skill.

Zeng said he was grateful that his father allowed him to play matches as long as he could juggle his studies.Being a top player at a young age has also helped him build confidence in life.”When my child grows up, I want them to develop a special hobby or skill as well,” Zeng said. “It doesn’t have to be esports, but something that makes you happy and unique.”
