Sprout has officially introduced Adrian “XELLOW” Guță as their new AWPer for the 2023 season. The announcement follows rumors from December, which claimed that the Romanian’s signing was already a done deal.

After many years at NexusGaming, XELLOW joins the Danish-majority roster as the new AWPer. The 22-year-old play in place of Fritz “slaxz-” Dietrich, who left the organization in late 2022 after serving two years with the team.

XELLOW is moving from Nexus to Sprout after almost six years

The Romanian sniper played in two different positions for Nexus for almost six years, from 2016 to 2022, and has been consistently their top-performing player throughout those years, earning a team-leading 1.20 rating in his last five months on the roster.

His solid in-game performances did not go unnoticed and he was acquired on loan by ECSTATIC in April 2022. Although his time with the Danish organization was short – just three months – but he once again impressed on the server. He scored a respectable 1.09 rating, second only to Dion “FASHR” Derksen (1.22), who was later acquired by Fnatic.

XELLOW will also reunite with his former teammate Laurențiu “lauNX” Țârlea. The two previously played together under the Nexus banner for almost a year, and during that time, they notched up a handful of wins at local Romanian LANs and online cups.

Sprout’s new recipe for success?

Sprout hopes the new player will take the team to new heights after finishing at No. 18 in the world in 2022. The Romanian-Danish mix already has a busy schedule at the beginning of the year with matches in the ESL Pro League Season 17 Conference Europe, the ESL Challenger League Season 44, and the IEM Katowice Play-In on the schedule.
