Two beloved maps in the Call of Duty universe are suddenly gone from Call of Duty: Mobile screens.

Shoot House, a prominent multiplayer ranked map, as well as the Alcatraz Battle Royale map, have been removed from the game as of March 13.

In-game screenshots confirm that the maps have been removed, even from private ranked rooms.

In Call of Duty: Mobile, Shoot House has been a fixture for both Ranked and standard pubs multiplayer matches such as Hardpoint and Kill Confirmed. Meanwhile, Alcatraz is a quads battle royale mode designed for fast-paced Battle Royale action, focusing mostly on close-quarter battle and a limited time revives.

Activision explained through the official COD Mobile social media that the said move is just “temporary.”

“We wanted to let you know that Shoot House and Alcatraz will soon be leaving Call of Duty®: Mobile. This is not permanent, both will be returning later this year, rotating in and out each season like other playlists in the game,” Activision said.

Both maps – Shoot House and Alcatraz – have similar counterparts in the upcoming Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile.

Shoot House is currently available in Warzone Mobile’s multiplayer mode, and Alcatraz’s equivalent in Warzone Mobile is the Rebirth Island quads map, with the same mechanics.

The only outlier or difference is that in Call of Duty: Mobile BR, dogtags are the means of revival after the respawn time ends, whilst in Warzone Mobile, buybacks are needed.

Social media reactions were varied, ranging from mostly negative to comparisons being drawn between CODM and Warzone Mobile.

However, Activision said, “Call of Duty®: Mobile will continue to get new content every season and there are no plans to change the breadth of content we bring to COD:M players. Stay tuned for more info on exciting new content we have coming this year!”

Call of Duty: Mobile has been launched in 2019, and will turn five years this year. Meanwhile, Warzone Mobile will launch worldwide on March 21, 2024.
