On a mission to secure one of the available spots for the upcoming Worlds 2023, LPL’s Weibo Gaming has announced the signing of Yang “Daeny” Dae-in as the team’s new Head Coach.

There is no doubt that many in the community may think that teams should make player changes to straighten out their situation. However, many times a change in the technical direction of a team is what the guys need to reach their full potential. That’s why, so far, that’s the gamble Weibo Gaming is taking for the rest of the season.

Weibo Gaming confirm the signing of Daeny

Through an official statement, Weibo Gaming announced the signing of Yang “Daeny” Dae-in as the team’s new Head Coach. There is no doubt that this is great news for the team and the fans, as let’s remember that Daeny is one of the most successful coaches in the professional League of Legends scene.

With this valuable addition, Weibo Gaming aims to perform better in the remainder of the 2023 season and thus earn one of the slots for Worlds 2023.

Weibo Gaming had a disappointing Spring Split 2023, as they finished between a 5th-6th place in the table, missing out on all available opportunities to qualify for MSI 2023. As a result, the team decided to let go of Lee “Easyhoon” Ji-hoon, their former Head Coach.

This team has a star-studded lineup in the Chinese League of Legends scene. However, they could not have the cohesion needed in the Spring Split to deliver good results.

About Daeny

As mentioned, Daeny is one of the most successful Head Coaches in the competitive scene, as he has coached very strong teams such as DWG KIA and T1. At DWG KIA, he was the world champion in 2020 and then signed for T1 in 2021. However, his results with Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok’s team were not as expected, and he did not finish the season with the team.

Several days ago, it was rumored, and according to reports, it was almost confirmed that Kim “kkOma” Jeong-gyun would be the Head Coach of Weibo Gaming in the LPL. However, kkOma’s commitments to the South Korean national team were above this signing, and the deal fell through.

Now, let’s consider the level and experience of Weibo Gaming players. Daeny will have to prove his character by leading this team that, without a doubt, has a personality and even a really strong ego.

Weibo announces Fly to accompany Daeny

A few hours after making Daeny’s announcement, Weibo Gaming announced the signing of Kim “Fly” Sang-Chul as the team’s Assistant Coach.

The 35-year-old Korean has extensive experience in the League of Legends scene, having been a coach for over eight years. In addition, he has been with teams such as Royal Never Give Up, T1, and Invictus Gaming.

Unlike the LEC, the LPL has not yet announced the start date of the LPL Summer Split 2023. However, it is expected to start a few weeks after the end of MSI 2023.
