As we know, Sentinels CEO Rob Moore has been accustomed to making different announcements regarding the lineups of his different esports divisions through his personal Twitter account. However, last April 30, a troll impersonated Moore on Twitter and shared the news that shocked many.

According to the fake post, Moore reportedly announced the departure of the entire VALORANT lineup. There is no doubt that this caught the attention of many people in the community because while it is true that the team is not going through a good time in the VCT Americas, according to the technical staff led by Adam “kaplan” Kaplan, the team is adapting very well.

Sentinels CEO Rob Moore gets trolled on Twitter

Last April 30, many community members were stunned to read a Tweet from what appeared to be the official account of Rob Moore, Sentinels CEO, announcing the departure of all players from his VALORANT lineup. There is no doubt that this message caused a lot of furor on the social network, as it reached 3.8K likes and 142 RTs.

Like many within one of the favorite social networks in the esports scene, Moore saw his verified user removed following the launch of Twitter Blue. As a result, many of the accounts of teams and even famous personalities are now unverified.

Following this, the CEO of Sentinels immediately reported the account to Twitter Support and received a completely unexpected response. According to the social network’s support, the person who impersonated his account was “not violating Twitter’s policy on deceptive identities.”

For now, neither the account that posted the message nor Rob Moore’s account is verified, and the only difference between these accounts is a missing “o” in the impostor’s account. After the furor this caused on Twitter, the account was immediately suspended, and, of course, the Tweet is no longer active.

The Tweet had some success in the community

As we mentioned, Rob Moore is used to giving news regarding the team, such as benches, signings, or player departures. However, although many in the community believed the message and even retweeted it to reach more people, others immediately identified it as false. As a result, Jack Etienne, CEO of Cloud9, said:

“Role issues? I can relate.”

Twitter has recently been among the most popular social networks in the esports scene. As a result, many organizations have chosen to pay to have different levels of verification within Twitter. Still, others have chosen not to use that money for other means, something completely understandable. However, lately, we have become accustomed to truthful news only if the accounts that published it were verified. Now, with the fact of paying for verification, this lends itself to more fake news on the scene.

Finally, all the whirlwind generated by Sentinels’ alleged split of the VALORANT lineup is over. The team is set to play EG on May 6 in the VCT Americas League.
