S1mple complains about CS2

While Valve’s Counter-Strike 2 department is probably working around the clock to make the game as good as possible and fix at least some of its issues before the start of IEM Sydney, Aleksandr “s1mple” Kostyliev took to Twitter (X) to complain about the problems.

He’s obviously pissed because in CS:GO, he used to have a huge competitive advantage over the other players. And now he needs to adapt to a new game that isn’t working properly. Players like him hate losing and do everything in their power to get control over their game of choice.

But CS2 cannot be fully controlled yet, by anyone. Things can go wrong when you least expect it and that frustrates the hell out of you. You’ve done all you could do to win, but you’re losing because of a bug, a crash or some other related issue.

The feeling that you’re competing in an unfair arena (although, let’s face it, the game is broken for all), ruins your motivation to improve. And that’s what s1mple is going through right now.

How much longer before CS2 is fully playable

The game has been out for just 10 days, so it’s not a surprise that many problems still exist. We should expect at least 6-12 months of frequent updates from Valve before we start to expect that Counter-Strike 2 won’t let us down.

Right now, Valve’s updates are gradually removing the issues signaled by the community. And since we have around 20 million people playing the game, lots of new bugs are signaled each week.

In pubs, that’s not catastrophic. But in professional tournaments, where hundreds of thousands of dollars are on the line, players stand to lose a lot if something goes wrong.

There’s nothing worse than the feeling that you could lose a key round because of some unexpected incident. It almost feels like you’re competing against cheaters who have an unfair advantage. Of course, players generally understand that if the game is broken, they’re not the only victims. Everyone is subjected to the same mess.

At the moment, BLAST Premier Fall Showdown is being played in America and Europe. So far, things haven’t looked so bad and the best teams won without too many problems. It remains to be seen how much more Valve can improve CS2 in the next week or two. At IEM Sydney, the first big test awaits their new version of Counter-Strike.
