Russian rapper IAMMIND confirms Team Darkside acquisition

Russian rapper and Mind Games founder Dmitriy “IAMMIND” Amamaind has confirmed that he sold the DPC EEU league slot... Fragster | 12. January 2023

Russian rapper and Mind Games founder Dmitriy “IAMMIND” Amamaind has confirmed that he sold the DPC EEU league slot for around $50,000-60,000. He also shared that he bought Roman RAMZES666 Kushnarev and Akbar “SoNNeikO” Butaev’s Team Darkside this season.

The organization had reportedly a contract right to sell its DPC slot at its own discretion.

Speaking of Darkside’s signing, the rapper said:

“Like I said, I originally wanted to sign the CIS Rejects with RAMZES instead of Team Unique, but that didn’t work out. It looks like now is a good time to do so. We have already signed Darkside players and organized a bootcamp in Turkey.”

When asked why the team didn’t keep the Mind Games tag, he said they started working together when they were already Darkside and aim to build the brand around that name.

IAMMIND sells Mind Games DPC slot

Regarding the sale of the Mind Games slot, IAMMIND said:

“The DPC slot was contractually owned by the organization. We had no intention of selling it, but it just happened that way.”

The slots were rumored to be priced at $50,000-$60,000, but this has not been officially confirmed. According to the rapper, this assessment is correct.

Mind Games has sold its place in the DPC league to BetBoom. The former line-up earned the second division spot previously held by Russian team Pari Parni and will compete as Team YNT. Team Darkside with SoNNeikO and RAMZES made their debut in the upper DPC season by beating the Ukrainian top team Natus Vincere.

Rap and esports

IAMMIND is a rapper who is making his first foray into the esports scene and seems to be quite successful. In the future, it seems that we can expect more musicians and rappers to be directly involved with esports, rather than just entering into short-term collaborations with organizations.

At the moment, it is mainly the combination of Dota 2 and Russian rappers that is very successful. In addition to IAMMIND, there is Shadowraze, who is currently a real whiz with his rap lyrics about Dota 2 and has found a lot of appeal both inside and outside the esports community.

Moreover, the two CS:GO stars Oleksandr “s1mple” Kostyliev and Kirill “Boombl4” Mikhaylov have also tried their hand at rapping and released their own songs.

Based on these recent trends, we might now see more rappers starting their own organizations or investing in esports, probably not just focusing on Dota 2 scene but also on other titles as well.
