The emotions of the League of Legends Worlds 2023 continue, and after three days of competition, we already know the first two eliminated teams of the tournament. The South American squad Rainbow7 and the Japanese DetonatioN FocusMe say goodbye to Worlds 2023 without winning a match.

On the other hand, it is also fair to mention that neither team was able to win a single map. As a result, it became a disappointing performance for both teams.

Likewise, the Play-In Phase actions continue in the next few hours, as we will know which are the last two teams that will advance to Round 2 and play for the pass to the tournament’s Group Stage.

R7 and DFM say goodbye to Worlds 2023

The South Americans and the Japanese bid farewell to Worlds 2023 after losing their first two matches in this Play-In Phase. There is no doubt that they were two tough groups, but they were not really up to the task.

R7

We start with R7, who were in Group A with PSG Talon, LOUD, and GAM Esports. In their first match, they were completely crushed by PSG Talon with a score of 0-2. In that match, the South American squad tried to stay on their feet in each of the two matches. However, PSG Talon’s Huang “Maple” Yi-tang took care of the final blow to win both maps.

Then, in the Elimination Match against GAM, things were not much different, as they also lost 0-2 and were dominated in all aspects of the game. However, it should be noted that GAM took advantage of R7’s weaknesses to beat them on the first map in 26:22 minutes. Finally, in the second map, GAM took the victory in 31:12 minutes with Đặng “Kati” Thanh Phê as the main gunner.

DFM

On the other hand, DetonatioN FocusMe had a very similar development as R7, as they also lost both of their matches 0-2. In their first match, Tseng “JimieN” Hao-chun and Chao “Shunn” Ying-shun of CTBC Flying Oyster annihilated them in a match that lasted 34:00 minutes.

Then, in the Elimination Match, they fell victim to a Team BDS hungry for revenge after disastrously losing their tournament’s first match. In addition, it is worth noting the awakening of BDS star Juš “Crownie” Marušič (12/2/11 KDA and 11.6 CSM), who took it upon himself to give Team BDS a chance to advance to the tournament’s next stage. In the end, Team BDS defeated DFM 2-0 to send them back to Japan.
