PSG.LGD changed its entire roster at this new season start, bringing in players from EHOME and CDEC. The move shocked everyone and especially the fans, who had gotten used to their favorite players and probably didn’t like to see them leave. And I repeat, this wasn’t a partial roster change. It was a complete transformation. Nobody from the old guard is left. What you used to know as PSG.LGD is dead and a new PSG.LGD is being forged right now.

Early Results

A short while ago, we saw what happened to Fnatic. The SEA team parted ways with Jabz, who was their captain for two years, and brought in some untested player who hadn’t played professionally in a year. The experiment was a complete failure and the player (eyyou) had to be kicked after just one week of activity. PSG.LGD did not take the same route. They carefully selected who they brought in to replace the legends who had brought them the 2nd and 3rd place at the last two editions of The International. And the early results are excellent.

China Dota2 Pro Cup Season 1

With its new roster, PSG.LGD is currently competing in China Dota2 Pro Cup Season 1. The strongest teams in the region are taking part in the tournament and Ame’s squad has already encountered two of them.

The first was Aster, which has some world-class players in its roster: Monet, Xxs, and BoBoKa. Two players have been competing together for two years. The 3rd (Monet) joined the team at the end of August this year. PSG’s victory is slightly less relevant because of this, but it still means a lot, given that we’re talking about a completely new roster that’s only starting to learn how to play together. The final score here was 2 – 1. Aster won game 1 and PSG.LGD won the next two games.

The second opponent was Invictus Gaming. Arguably, this is an even stronger team than Aster and its roster has been playing together for more than a year. The players aren’t weak either. In fact, the team’s captain is Kaka, who almost won The International with Newbee in 2017. Nevertheless, PSG.LGD won with a score of 2 – 0.

We’ll have to see what PSG.LGD can do against its next opponent, SAG. If it wins that match as well, then it’s clear that the synergy between the players works. And oftentimes, at this competitive level that’s one of the most important factors.
