PGL Major Copenhagen stage 2: best teams after day 1

The second stage of PGL Major Copenhagen is currently underway and competitors like Team Spirit and Natus Vincere have already demonstrated their prowess. Both teams currently have 2 victories and will only need to win one best-of-three in their next three matches to advance to the playoffs.

In the case of Team Spirit, everyone expected them to do well. But other teams, like Na’Vi, Complexity, and even MOUZ, looked much less capable of ending day 1 with perfect records.

As was mentioned before, Spirit, MOUZ, Na’Vi, and Complexity were the big winners on the opening day of PGL Major Copenhagen Stage 2. In Spirit’s case, their opponents found themselves losing much faster than they expected. Cloud9 won just 7 rounds against them while Imperial won just 2.

In both matches, donk was exceptional. He did receive a lot of help from his teammates but he was still the best player on the server and his contributions were decisive in bringing victory to his squad.

MOUZ had to play against ECSTATIC and Eternal Fire. Both matches proved to be extremely challenging and ended with a score of 13 – 11. Against ECSTATIC, NiP’s former player, Brollan, performed well and finished with a score of 21 – 13. Then, against Eternal Fire, it was xertioN’s turn to shine and carry the team with a score of 23 – 13 and an ADR of 106.

Complexity is the biggest surprise on this list. But their result is not that surprising if we take into account who they had to play against. Neither paiN Gaming nor HEROIC are truly formidable teams, so a victory in a best-of-one is not impossible to pull off.

In the match against paiN, the score was 13 – 9 on Vertigo. Against HEROIC, it was 19 – 17 on the same map. Complexity will face MOUZ later today for a chance to qualify for the playoffs of the Copenhagen Major with a perfect score.

The 4^th team that finished day 1 of the second stage with a 2 W – 0 L result was Natus Vincere. Na’Vi had two difficult matches against opponents who came close to beating them. The first one was The MongolZ (13 – 10) and the second one was G2 Esports (13 – 11).

Fortunately for the Ukrainians, jL and w0nderful were in great shape. Their performances were the main reason why the team was successful.
