PGL Major Copenhagen 2024: European RMR A

PGL Major Copenhagen 2024 will be the first CS2 Major of this season. But until we get there, qualifiers must be played and not everyone will survive them.

In Europe, two tournaments will be held. They are called European RMR A and European RMR B. Each of them features 16 teams.

European RMR A will be played between February 14 – 17 in Bucharest, Romania. The top eight teams qualify for the Major directly. Three more teams will get the opportunity to compete in the Decider Brackets for one final chance to qualify.

Of course, everyone will want to avoid this stage, because it will feature six teams and only one of them will qualify for PGL Copenhagen Major.

European RMR A participants

The teams that will compete in the first European RMR for the Copenhagen Major come from the two closed qualifiers, A and B. Some competitors, such as FaZe Clan and G2 Esports, received direct invitations based on their Paris Major performance.

Among the important organizations that managed to miss the qualifier completely, BIG is by far the most important. Nobody understands how they managed to lose so many matches against underdogs that shouldn’t have had any chance against them, but somehow they did.

A few other known teams that missed the boat are Aurora Gaming, FORZE Esports, and EYEBALLRS.

These teams will play in a Swiss System format to determine who qualifies for the Major. In order to secure a direct qualification, a competitor needs to win three matches before accumulating three defeats. So practically, anyone with a score of 3 W – 2 L or better will qualify.

Favorite teams

The eight teams that are most likely to qualify for the Copenhagen Major from European RMR A are these:

• FaZe Clan
• G2 Esports
• Virtus.pro
• Natus Vincere
• Ninjas in Pyjamas
• BetBoom Team
• Team Falcons
• Fnatic

The first six of these eight are almost guaranteed a spot at the Major. The bottom two are in question and might lose their spot if they play poorly while some of the underdogs play unexpectedly well.

The Swiss format makes it possible for decent teams to get eliminated if they’re unlucky enough to lose in the first round and then encounter another good team that should have won the first round.
