The biggest PUBG Mobile tournament of the year has ended with a win for the Thai team Vampire Esports! The massive event with a $2 million prize pool took place last weekend and united the world’s top 18 PUBG Mobile teams.

The competition was a part of the Gamers8 series with a total prize pool of $15 million distributed throughout tournaments in Fortnite, Rainbow Six, Dota 2, Rocket League and PUBG Mobile. All Gamers8 events were held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

PUBG Mobile World Invitational 2022 was held in collaboration with the developers of the game Tencent Games and KRAFTON, as well as ESL — the major esports tournament organizer that was acquired by Saudi-backed Savvy Gaming Group back in January.

Mobile World Invitational 2022 results

Vampire Esports, who took the championship title, is relatively new on the scene, with this marking their first victory at an S-Tier event according to Liquipedia. The team scored 220 points and overtaken the runner-up Team Falcons by 23 points. The third place was secured by Stalwart Esports with a score of 180.

Apart from the main standings, PUBG Mobile World Invitational 2022 rewarded multiple players on an individual basis. For example, Suhbat “Action” Galtsalam from Stalwart Esports (top-3 at PMWI) received the title of event’s MVP. Meanwhile, Purin “Stoned” Rongkhankaew from Vampire Esports was crowned the Gunslinger, and his teammate Supachai “SchwepXz” Singkaew was a Grenade Master.

Furthermore, Sohail “Hector” Shaikh from Team SouL got an Eagle Eye award for the player with longest distance finish, and Zhang “格子” Jianhui from Regans Gaming was awarded as Medic of the competition.

Five squads from the top of the leaderboard will automatically participate in the following event called Afterparty Showdown. It will be a show match competition with 12 teams from around the world which will compete for $1 million in prize money.
