Dota 2 patch 7.34d is full of excellent support heroes for gaining MMR. In this guide, you’ll discover three of them.

Witch Doctor

witch doctor

Valve

Witch Doctor is currently the highest win rate hero in the game. Last week, his win rate was 56%, which is very impressive. He also gets picked a lot (23.5%), so if you want to play him, it’s highly advised to pick him early, before the enemy team does.

WD’s power comes from his excellent abilities, which heal teammates and heavily damage opponents. They also stun for good durations and can keep multiple targets in place while you channel your ultimate.

WD’s Death Ward remains relevant throughout the game no matter how long it lasts because it deals pure damage. At 160 damage per hit and nearly 5 hits per second, this ability is one of the strongest in the game at level 3. By the time you’re level 12 on this hero, you deal 500 pure damage per second just with your ultimate.

Add Maledic to that and you can easily see why everyone wants to play this hero. The base damage of this ability is 30, but the burst damage based on how much damage the target suffered is extremely high: 40%.

In the laning phase, most players will use WD defensively, to heal allies and damage opponents. The amount is substantial: 10 – 46 per second.

The items worth buying on this hero include Aghanim’s Shard, Aghanim’s Scepter, Aether Lens, Aeon Disk, Blink Dagger, and Glimmer Cape. Against heroes that deal a lot of physical damage, you should also consider buying a Ghost Scepter.

Treant Protector

treant

Valve

Treant Protector provides a combination of durability, vision, and AoE control that’s very hard to fight into. If the hero gets a good start, the enemy team has a hard time pushing towers.

Treant’s current win rate is almost 54%, while his pick rate is 9%. This hero is not as popular as he could be simply because he’s not as fun to play as Witch Doctor. You spend most of the game invisible, around trees, planting wards and trying to provide vision for your team. You rarely get involved directly in the fights.

You only use your abilities and try to not get killed. Of course, this way of playing the game puts more pressure on your teammates, who will end up tanking more abilities and more damage.

To protect them, you can buy a Pipe, a Glimmer Cape, a Medallion, or a Force Staff. You can also use your abilities. Among them, Living Armor is one of the best because it gives the target +10 armor for 30 seconds, as well as 6 HP regen. Such a massive buff on a hero that already has good armor or is willing to buy some will greatly improve his survivability.

For yourself, you should consider buying a Blink Dagger, a Meteor Hammer, or perhaps a Ghost Scepter. It all depends on the situation. Against some lineups, Meteor Hammer will help you push the lanes a bit faster and stun your opponents for a long time after your ultimate expires.

Warlock

warlock

Valve

Warlock is perfect for team fighting and securing laning phase farm. His win rate at the moment is 53.2%. His pick rate is close to 13%. A good Warlock player will seek to use his Shadow Word to keep his carry alive or to constantly damage the enemy offlaner.

By the time you’re level 3 and this ability is level 2, you can provide 250 HP or deal 250 damage over 10 seconds. It’s generally wiser to choose to heal your allies because you get the full benefit of that 250 value. When you damage enemies, you lose around 65 points because of the magic resistance and the HP regen of the target.

However, if the target is low HP, then it makes perfect sense to use this ability offensively. The rest of Warlock’s toolkit is excellent for team fighting. Fatal Bonds multiplies the damage taken by enemy heroes tremendously, so if you have any AoE damage heroes, they will do significantly more damage with their abilities.

Upheaval slows teams to such an extent that no melee heroes can escape it in time and will be rendered useless during a fight.

Warlock’s ultimate, Chaotic Offering, creates a powerful golem with lots of HP, armor, and damage. The trick is to put additional buffs on this golem and guarantee that it will stay alive for as long as possible.

Warlock greatly benefits from items like Aghanim’s Shard, Aghanim’s Scepter, Glimmer Cape, and Ghose Scepter. If you can afford it, a Refresher Shard will help you a lot after the 30 minute mark.
