Paper Rex qualify for VCT Champions 2023 playoffs

VCT Champions 2023 is in full swing, and in addition to the bad news for those teams who must return home without getting a single win, we also have the good news that, in this case, Paper Rex qualifies for the playoffs.

There is no doubt that PRX was the favorite to qualify for the playoffs in the first place of Group A. In addition to dominating the VCT Pacific League all season, their opponents in the group were not very strong, so what we all expected to happen happened.

What was expected to be a great match did not disappoint, as PRX and EDG left everything in each round played to give them an excellent match. However, Paper Rex prevailed to take a comfortable 2-0 victory and thus seal their ticket to the VALORANT Champions 2023 playoffs.

It all started in Fracture, EDG’s map pick, where the PRX boys started to show great play in the first half and on their attacking side. After a spectacular offensive, PRX takes a partial victory by 8-4 in the first half. At the change of sides, Paper Rex won the first three rounds to have peace of mind by placing the score by 11-4, but EDG reacted momentarily to place 7-12. However, the reaction stayed there, as PRX won the remaining rounds to take the win by 13-7.

Then, in the second map, Pearl, things changed radically, as PRX was not the same dominant team as in Fracture, and EDG woke up to put their rivals in trouble.

In the first half, EDG was relentless on their attacking side and took a 7-5 partial victory. Then, at the change of sides, PRX woke up in a big way to even the score at 12-12 and sent the map to Overtime. Finally, after three overtimes, Paper Rex took the victory by 16-14 to seal their direct ticket to the tournament playoffs. On the other hand, EDG awaits the winner between KRÜ and Giants to fight for the second playoff spot in Group A of the VCT Champions 2023.
