After more than a year away from the League of Legends competitive scene, Kim “Olleh” Joo-sung could mark his return to the competition. Recall that Olleh decided to step away from the scene because he had to return to his home country to fulfill his mandatory military service.
In South Korea, military service is compulsory for everyone over 18, and failure to do so is considered a felony in the country. As a result, traditional and esports athletes must serve for one year.
A veteran player, a hard worker, and a good friend. Thank you @Olleh for all of your hard work, both with Golden Guardians and during your career in the LCS.
We wish him the best of luck as he completes his military service, and hope that maybe someday we will meet again!💛🖤 pic.twitter.com/Ifg3jh8cmi

Now, all indications are that Olleh would be ready to return to the competitive scene.
Olleh could return to the LCS
Former Golden Guardians LCS Support Olleh is reportedly close to returning to competitive League of Legends action in the coming weeks, or at least for next season.
Over the past few days, the 28-year-old veteran player reached the highest rank in the solo queue in his home country, proving that he continues to be at the highest level of play. We all know how competitive the South Korean region is. For Olleh to be dominating and crushing it like he is currently doing only makes us think he continues to be at the top of his game.
The South Korean region is known for being among the strongest in the world, as LCK teams dominate international competition. However, having many quality players, some players’ chances of competing in the LCK are very low. As a result, some jumped to NA to play in the LCS.
Before announcing his retirement from mandatory military service in South Korea, Olleh had played for several years in the LCS. First, he was one of the best players of Immortals in the 2016 season, which caught the attention of Team Liquid, which signed him for the 2017 season.
Then, in 2018, he signed for Golden Guardians, and from that point on, he was in and out of the starting lineup for several seasons.
Olleh proved his high level in the LCS
Undoubtedly, Olleh could not reach the top playing with Golden Guardians. But the 28-year-old veteran player always proved that he was an effective Support. Thanks to his experience and knowledge of the game, he even spent time as the team’s positional coach.
Olleh’s return to the competitive scene is not certain today, as there is no official confirmation from the player. However, the fact that he plays at a high level in solo queues may make several teams interested. In addition, the 2023 season is very close to the end, so, Olleh could be a luxury addition for some teams needing experienced Support for the 2024 season.
