The tiebreakers of the first stage of DreamLeague Season 19 are over and the winners are not at all the ones we expected.

In group A, TSM proved to be stronger than Execration and Team Aster, while in group B, Team Spirit got bested by both beastcoast and OG. These results mean that four Western European teams will compete in the second stage of the tournament, along with two North American teams and two South American ones.

Tiebreaker A

In tiebreaker A, Aster tried to play a very simple draft against Execration but got countered pretty hard. Their Shadow Fiend, Death Prophet, and Enigma looked great on paper, but Execration knew exactly how to counter their team fight potential.

Thanks to an intelligent Furion pick, coupled with an Ember Spirit and a Jakiro, the SEA team managed to win a few key fights and everything was over. The whole match was played between the 29 and 35 minute marks.

Despite winning this match, Execration were not able to beat TSM, whose strategy involved a draft that scales well into the late game. Execration’s draft was also meant to win the late game, but TSM proved to be a bit more knowledgeable. This allowed them to make a good comeback from a 4000 gold deficit.

At minute 12, the match looked completely lost for TSM, but over the next 15 minutes, everything changed. TSM then went on to beat Aster as well using a very greedy combo: Phantom Assassin, Death Prophet, Ember, and Primal Beast. Somehow they made it work against a Nature’s Prophet, a Pangolier, and a Dragon Knight!

Tiebreaker B

In the second tiebreaker, everything ended very quickly because both OG and beastcoast defeated Team Spirit. The matches lasted incredibly long (67m and 54m) but in the end, Spirit were defeated.

The match against OG was really fun to watch. Everyone expected OG to play a basic draft but they did the exact opposite, picking Invoker, Doom, and Monkey King. On paper, the combination didn’t seem to offer much, but the way they played it made perfect sense.

OG dominated almost the entire match and eventually won thanks to Bozhidar “bzm” Bogdanov’s phenomenal performance on Invoker. He finished the match with 19 kills, 15 assists, and just three deaths. His networth was nearly 60.000, which is not something we see every day.
