On the opening day of the highly anticipated Call of Duty League 2024, New York Subliners, Atlanta FaZe, and Seattle Surge registered their first victory of the new season.

After a long offseason, Valve’s beloved Call of Duty League returned with its 2024 season, featuring a new season of thrilling battles between the top COD teams in the world. The league’s opening day started with a close match between Atlanta Faze and Boston Breach, followed by a one-sided match between Los Angeles Thieves and Seattle Surge. In the last match of the night, New York Subliners went against Optic Texas in a close match that went to the last map. Here is how the matches unfolded:

Atlanta Faze vs Boston Breach

Kicking off the series on Karachi Hard Point, both the team gave their all in to secure the map but it was FaZe who eventually secured the victory after a tough fight. The match went to the second map, Karachi Search and Destroy, where Boston appeared stronger in the early rounds.

However, FaZe showcased composed gameplay again and secured the map 6-5, edging out the Boston team again in a close fight. After losing two close maps, Boston came alive and mounted a brilliant comeback to equalize the series. The team first secured Invasion Control 3-1 before beating FaZe on Terminal Hard Point with a 250-209 scoreline.

Before Boston could complete the reverse sweep, FaZe recovered and mounted a brilliant comeback on the back of Chris “Simp” Lehr’s exception performance to win the final map of the series 6-3.

Los Angeles Thieves vs Seattle Surge:

Seattle went off to a brilliant start in the best-of-five series, decimating the LA Thieves on Karachi Hard Point to gain an early 1-0 lead in the series. The team kept the onslaught going against the Thieves with another dominating win on Terminal Search and Destroy.

It was on the third map that the LA Thieves found their composure. They secured three easy rounds to win Invasion Control 3-0 and avoid the clean sweep. LA, however, failed to capitalize on the momentum as Seattle rebounded on the Terminal HardPoint with a 250-221 victory.

New York Subliners vs Optic Texas:

The last match of the night was kicked off on Karachi HardPoint, where NYSL annihilated the Green Wall completely and secured an easy 250-151 victory. After a disappointing start, Optic appeared stronger on Highrise Search and Destroy but their performance was not enough to gain them a victory.

Leading the series 2-0, NYSL finally faltered against the Green Wall on Karachi Control and Terminal Hard Point, losing the maps with the score of 3-1, and 250-210, respectively. Optic delivered another exceptional performance on the final map, Terminal HardPoint, but it was NYSL, who held their nerve better and secured the map 6-5.
