The Swiss Stage of Worlds 2023 is very close to the end, which means that we are very close to knowing all the teams qualified for the tournament’s Quarterfinals.

After much excitement in the last few days, NRG and T1 sealed their tickets to the Quarterfinals after excellent victories over G2 Esports and Bilibili Gaming, respectively. This leaves these last two teams against the ropes, as they will play the last match of this Swiss Stage looking for their ticket to the Worlds 2023 Quarterfinals.

There is no doubt that, on NRG’s part, this is a wake-up call for LCS teams, as they become the first team (other than Cloud9) since 2014 to qualify for the Worlds 2023 Quarterfinals. Moreover, this is a ratification that their victory in the LCS Championship 2023 was not coincidental.

On the other hand, T1 suffered more than enough in this Swiss Stage but finally prevailed by beating Bilibili Gaming by 2-0 and thus remained alive in the most important tournament of the season.

NRG annihilate G2 Esports, showing an excellent level of gameplay

Samurai came into this series with confidence, considering that they dominated the LEC throughout the season. However, they did not count on NRG having an extraordinary level of play and, above all, on Juan “Contractz” Garcia, who took the MVP of the series, displaying a mind-blowing performance that led the North Americans to victory.

While both matches were somewhat balanced, G2 Esports could not stand their ground in Summoner’s Rift and lost 0-2. The first map finished in 31:03 minutes, while the second in 28:29 minutes.

Now, NRG is the only LCS team in the Worlds 2023 playoffs, as let’s remember that Cloud9 fell eliminated a few days ago. At the same time, G2 Esports will have to play for their lives against Bilibili in the final playoff qualifier.

T1 destroys Bilibili Gaming to secure a ticket to the playoffs

The second match of this day left us with an extraordinary victory of T1 over Bilibili Gaming by 2-0. Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok managed again to qualify for the playoffs, and they did it by beating one of the strongest Chinese teams of the season.

T1 had a tough road through this Swiss Stage, much more than expected. After beating Team Liquid in the first match, they lost to LCK rivals Gen.G in Round 2. As a result, the team fell to the Mid Bracket, where they faced Cloud9 to get their second tournament win and be just 1 law away from qualifying.

Finally, in the match against Bilibili Gaming, Faker, Moon “Oner” Hyeon-joon, and Lee “Gumayusi” Min-hyeong charged T1 for wins in 28:44 and 31:01 minutes to seal their ticket to the next stage of the tournament.
