NaVi climb to 30th place in HLTV’s CS:GO world rankings

While it’s true that this is a disappointing position for NaVi, after the terrible results in the last few months, it’s worth mentioning that they returned to the TOP 30 of the CS:GO world rankings, according to HLTV.

On the other hand, it is also worth remembering that teams lose positions in the ranking after making changes to their lineups, and, as we know, NaVi made three changes for this second half of the year. However, the team still has a lot of work to do if they want to be among the best teams in the world, as they have been for the past few years.

In addition, this new lineup should have a synergy equal or superior to the one they had with Kirill “Boombl4” Mikhaylov, Ilya “Perfecto” Zalutskiy, and Denis “electroNic” Sharipov back in the day. It is no secret to anyone that letting Perfecto and electroNic go was not an easy decision for NaVi, so they must answer the new additions to the team.

HLTV releases CS:GO World Rankings update

Last July 17, 2023, HLTV published an update of the CS:GO World Rankings, where, in addition to several changes in the TOP 10, we note that NaVi climbed to position #30.

As we mentioned, in this offseason that was a little over a month long, NaVi decided to drop Perfecto, electroNic, and Andrij “npl” Kukharsjkyj from their starting CS:GO lineup. As a result, the new additions were international players, which means the organization completely abandoned its ideal of keeping a Ukrainian majority in its team.

Similarly, this #30 ranking for NaVi means the lowest ranking in the organization’s entire history in the world rankings published by HLTV. Not even in their worst times did NaVi fall further than the #17 spot they occupied at the end of 2017.

As we note in the HLTV Tweet, the TOP 5 of the CS:GO world ranking remains the same, namely:

  1. Heroic
  2. Team Vitality
  3. FaZe Clan
  4. G2 Esports
  5. ENCE

The reason why NaVi is ranked #30 in the World Rankings

NaVi’s 2023 season has been completely disappointing, but this does not mean the team fell so hard in the world rankings. While the team fell by the wayside at the Legends Stage of the Paris Major, they managed to qualify for the semifinals of IEM Rio 2023, ESL Pro League S17, and IEM Katowice 2023, so it was clear that the team would be, at least within the TOP 10.

However, the organization lost its position in the HLTV world ranking due to its absolute renewal in its lineup. Recall that only Oleksandr “s1mple” Kostyljev and Valerij “b1t” Vakhovsjkyj remained on the team. Meanwhile, Aleksi “Aleksib” Virolainen, Ivan “iM” Mihai, and Justinas “jL” Lekavicius arrived as new additions to the team.

As a result, NaVi had to start without a place in the rankings and start climbing positions from scratch.

Currently, NaVi is in the Lower Bracket of Group B of the BLAST Premier Fall Groups 2023. The Ukrainian squad defeated Astralis in the first match of the group by 2-1, while they then fell to Heroic with a resounding 0-2. As a result, they now play the qualification to the Group B Final against BIG.
