Fnatic has defeated its nemesis G2 in the 2022 LEC Spring Split Playoffs. The two organizations are known to dislike each other and are considered long-time rivals. Both competed against each other with their new lineups in Spring Split 2022.

A fierce back and forth

The first match was full of unusual and exciting picks and both teams played rather quietly in the beginning before things got down to business. Later on, Fnatic started to exert a lot of pressure and control the map. Fnatic won the first game of the match and G2 swore revenge to defeat their rivals. At the 20-minute mark, the score was almost tied and G2 did everything they could to keep Fnatic at bay and stop them from showing more dominance on the map. However, G2 resisted and fought back against their opponent. Sergen “BrokenBlade” Çelik of G2 showed top form on the top lane, but was soon thwarted by Fnatic.

Fnatic started strong in the third game and controlled the action from the first minute. G2 came roaring in, opening up a chance for Fnatic to attack them again. Fnatic had already made 10 kills after 10 minutes, dashing away from the opposing team. Fnatic spread out into all lanes and quickly controlled the game. G2 was frantically looking for ways to get back up themselves but Fnatic dominated the game until the destruction of the opposing Nexus. In the third game of the series, Fnatic showed strong dominance and came to match point.

Fnatic passes G2

In the last game, it was a neck-and-neck race between the two rival teams and it was a wild back-and-forth with no one coming out on top for a long time. Then G2 managed several solo kills, while Fnatic prepared for more moves on the map with thoughtful positioning of the Wards. Fnatic eventually had a small gold lead, though both teams were tied with 10 kills.

By the 27 minute mark, Fnatic finally captured the Drake’s Soul and kept pushing forward to reach the enemy Nexus. With that, things looked bad for G2, who were down and out after 3 hours of play and couldn’t counter Fnatic. In the end Fnatic won 3:1 against G2 and reached the final of the upper group against Rogue.

If they win in their next match, they may well qualify to play in the 2022 Mid-Season Invitational as well. G2, on the other hand, was heavily disappointed by this defeat, which weighed even more heavily because it was against their arch-enemy Fnatic. They will have to face either Excel or Team Vitality in the near future.
