LEC Summer Split 2023 Group Stage – Preview

The summer season in the LEC continues this week when the matches corresponding to the Group Stage will be played, where the top eight teams of the regular season will play in the new format for the third time in this 2023 season.

Remember that best-of-three (BO3) matches are being played in the Group Stage for the first time in history this season. In addition, in the playoffs, matches will be played to the best of five (BO5).

On the other hand, it is also fair to remember that the teams are playing for their lives in each match, as their chances of qualifying for Worlds 2023 are increasingly slim. They all know they must score as many points as possible in this LEC Summer Split, as they will have no more chance.

LEC Summer Split 2023 Group Stage – Details

The LEC Summer Split 2023 Group Stage will start on July 15, 2023, where the best eight teams of the regular season will fight to qualify for the playoffs.

As it has been in the Winter and Spring Split, the Group Stage is played in GSL format, with all matches best-of-three (BO3). The teams are divided into two groups of four, and after playing the matches of this Group Stage, the two best teams advance to the playoffs. In addition, the team that leads the respective groups advances directly to the Upper Bracket final. At the same time, the runners-up of each group start their playoff adventure from the Lower Bracket semifinals.

Based on what they have shown in the regular season, there is no doubt that Fnatic and G2 Esports are the teams called to be protagonists in this Group Stage and lead their respective groups. However, anything can happen in these defining instances and, above all, in BO3 matches. In addition, we also have that Team Heretics and MAD Lions played a good regular season and can give a big surprise in this Group Stage.

As we mentioned, the Group Stage of the LEC Summer Split 2023 will start next Saturday, July 15, 2023, and last until July 23, when the Decider Matches of each group will be played. In addition, below, we bring you the schedule of the first matches of this Group Stage.
