As part of the arrival of season 3 of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2, Activision introduced a new batch of skins to the in-game store, which has made the community that loves the DMZ mode a bit worried.
The newly added pack, Bomb Squad, offers different advantages to all DMZ mode players. First, we can note that it offers a fourth operator slot, which was not possible in the game until now. Then, we can see that the operator and the SAKIN MG38 skin included in this package also have some advantages that, without a doubt, are unique.
Like these, there are other new features, skins, or added packages that are considered pay-to-win.
Is Bomb Squad a pay-to-win package?
As mentioned, Activision introduced some packs to the Warzone 2 store for all DMZ mode players. However, several of these packs are considered pay-to-win, as they have unique perks that give some advantage in this game mode.
The skin for the SAKING MG38, Boom Proof, has a particular feature that the weapons in this mode do not have. Looking at the contents of the package in detail, we can see a section called Bonus Effect, which refers to a reuse time of 15 minutes. Therefore, if the weapon is lost within the first 15 minutes, you can reuse it without problems.
On the other hand, the EOD SPECIALIST operator also has a section in the Bonus Effect. In this case, we can see that the operator brings a free medium backpack. This type of “loot,” for the rest of the players, must be found inside the game.
This is not the only pay-to-win bundle released in season 3
This is not the only pack released in MWII season 3 that is considered pay-to-win. As observed in a package that brings a Roze operator, we can see that it also has its own “Bonus Effect,” which comes equipped with a UAV.
There has been several bundles added with Season 03 that give players a benefit in DMZ, practically making DMZ a pay to win experience. Activision should absolutely reconsider and stop attempting to grab sales based on P2W mechanics. This is leaning very similar to locking… pic.twitter.com/FLhybnN9X7

As a result, community members who love the DMZ mode are not entirely happy about it, as they claim it is a clear-cut case of P2W.

On the other hand, on Reddit, one user alleges that medium backpacks are fine, but having a UAV from the start of the game is nothing but P2W.

in DMZ
There is no doubt that this kind of pack can be seen as pay-to-win by many players, especially those not used to spending real money in the game. However, we can consider the exorbitant amount of money that different skins in other video games can cost nowadays.
The idea of selling packs, skins, or operators, is a strategy implemented by some companies, in this case, Activision, to have income by other means. However, we must also remember that both Warzone 2 and DMZ modes are free, and, logically, developers want to have some income through these packages.
We are not saying we are for or against this kind of bundle that came in the MW2 season. On the contrary, we are trying to give a possible explanation for the situation.
