According to different reports in the last few hours, the Spanish esports organization Team Heretics plans to return to the Call of Duty League by partnering with Florida Mutineers. This partnership would not be the first time in recent times, as these two organizations have collaborated on other projects.

This could benefit Florida Mutineers, one of the CDL teams that has not played a good 2023 season and needs a 180° turnaround to qualify for the upcoming CDL Championship 2023. On the other hand, Team Heretics plans to expand much more and replicate their good performances from different divisions in Call of Duty.

Reports claim that Team Heretics and Florida Mutineers will partner for CDL

According to a report by esports journalist Jacob Hale, Team Heretics and Florida Mutineers will partner to form the Miami Heretics to compete in the CDL 2024.

The report indicates that the Mutineers planned to release the news after the culmination of Major IV. However, the organization has decided to wait and will likely have the official confirmation in the next few hours.

In addition to this, it is speculated that the new lineup of the Miami Heretics would be as follows:

  • Eric “EriKBooM” Ferrer
  • Alejandro “Lucky” Lopez
  • Adrian “MettalZ” Serrano
  • Juan “JurNii” Muñoz
  • Javier “Vikul” Milagro

An all-Spanish lineup, and, as we note, the organization would only drop Vikul, a starter for the Florida Mutineers in Major IV, from the current lineup.

About Florida Mutineers

The Florida Mutineers are owned by Misfits Gaming Group, which manages Misfits Gaming in all its divisions and Florida Mayhem in the OWL. As we mentioned, Misfit and Heretics made some partnerships or agreements a few months ago, as let’s remember that Team Heretics bought Misfit Gaming’s place in the LEC in 2022 and also changed its name to Heretics for 2023.

If the organizations confirm this news, Team Heretics will enter the CDL league they have been trying to return to for many years. In addition, we must remember that the organization had a spectacular COD lineup in the CDL from 2016 to 2019 and was considered one of the best in Europe.

As we mentioned, the Mutineers hope that this rebranding and lineup change will completely turn around their current situation, as in their first year in the CDL, the team has failed to put up a good image. Furthermore, since the team’s inception in 2020, they have never managed to finish higher than fourth place in a Major, and this year, they are on track to miss out on the 2023 CDL Championship, as they are tenth in the overall CDL standings with 80 points.

Finally, this would be just the first of many changes we may see in the CDL regarding teams for the 2024 season. Recall that the RØKKR are currently for sale due to financial problems of Version1, their base organization. At the same time, LA Guerrillas is also for sale due to financial situations at The Guard.
