Giants are the first qualifiers for VCT Champions of LCQ EMEA

The Spanish derby provided many emotions in the final of the Upper Bracket of the VCT 2023 LCQ EMEA; however, it was Giants who were able to prevail in the series to take the 2-0 victory over KOI and thus qualify for the VCT Champions 2023.

On the other hand, KOI falls to the Lower Bracket, where they will have to play for the second and last place in the VALORANT Champions 2023 against NaVi.

Undoubtedly, we were expecting an extremely exciting match, and we got it. From start to finish, both teams left everything in each round to try to take the victory. However, Adolfo “Fit1nho” Gallego had a spectacular series (188 ADR, 296 ACS, and 1.46 Rating) to lead Giants to victory.

Giants apply a clean sweep against KOI to seal their ticket to VCT Champions 2023.

While it is true that many expected KOI to offer much more resistance in this match, there is no doubt that Giants have shown an exceptional level of play throughout the season.

Likewise, we can’t say that KOI made things easy, neither more nor less, since they managed to send the first map of the series to Overtime. However, their attacking side was not up to the task on the second map, so they ended up being crushed.

It all started in Haven, KOI’s map pick, where we watched as Aaro “hoody” Peltokangas had a spectacular start to the series and was in charge of leading Giants to victory. With Giants on their defensive side in the first half, the team managed to take a 7-5 partial victory, a very easy result to come back from at this level of competition. However, Giants were able to win five of the first seven rounds to take a 12-7 lead quickly.

At the same time, Bogdan “sheydos” Naumov began to wake up KOI, and, in the blink of an eye, the score was even at 12-12. Finally, Giants prevailed in the first two Overtime rounds to take the 14-12 victory.

Giants crush KOI in Pearl

Then, on the second map, Pearl, things were radically different, as Giants started, again, with a 7-5 partial victory, but this time on their attacking side. However, at the change of sides, they applied a spectacular defense, which did not allow any advance of KOI, and ended up taking the victory by 13-5.
